1.Mechanicalrisks
Handling
Theappliancemustbehandledandinstalledinawaysuitedtotheweightandsizeoftheappliance.
Location
Theapplianceshouldbeshelteredfromtheweatherandprotectedfromfrost.
Positioning
Theapplianceshouldbepositionedasrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
2.Electricalrisks
Connections
• Connecttheapplianceaccordingtothemanufacturer’sdiagramsandinstructions.Takeparticularcarenotto
neutralisethethermostat;directconnectionisforbidden.
• Toavoidthesupplycableoverheating,usethetypeandsectionofcablerecommendedintheinstallation
manual.Inanyevent,complywiththeregulationsinforce.
• Makesurethatthereisanelectricalprotectionbetweenthemainsandtheapplianceanduser(forexample
inFrance,a30mAdifferentialcircuit-breaker).
• Checktheconnectionsaretight.
• Theappliancemustbeconnectedtoagoodearthconnection.
• Ensurethatlivepartsremaininaccessible.Coversmustbepresentintheiroriginalconditionandopenings
forcablesofasuitablediameter.
• Beforeremovingthecover,makesurethepoweristurnedoff.
3.Hydraulicrisks
Pressure
Theappliancesmustbeusedwithintherangeofpressuresforwhichtheyweredesigned.
Connection, drains
• Theinstallationofahydraulicsafetyunit,includingatleastapressurevalve,iscompulsory.Itmustbemoun-
teddirectlyonthecoldwaterinlet.
• Donotblockthedrainopeningofthevalve.Connectthedrainopeningofthevalvetoawastewateroutlet.
• Ifthereisexcessivepressure,theowmustnotbesloweddowninanyway.
Connectthesafetyunittoadrainpipe,keptintheopenair,inafrost-freeareaandonacontinuousdownward
slopetodrainanyexpandedheatedwaterortodrainthewaterheater.
Thismeansthatthedrainpipe’sdiametermustbeadaptedtotheow.
• Takecarenottoreversethehotwaterandcoldwaterconnections.
• Checkforleaks.
