The effic iency program can help you to use
less fuel.
It shows other equipment influenc-
ing consumpt ion and fue l economy messages
provide tips f or efficient driv ing . The efficiency
prog ram uses distance and consumption data
from tr ip compute r

To display the efficiency program, call up Ve-
hicle functions
and select the menu option
Efficiency program .
Other equipment
Other equipment that is currently affecting
fuel consumption is listed in t he view
Con-
sumer .
The display shows up to three other
items of equipment @ ¢
fig. 9 . The equip -
ment using the most fuel is listed f irst . If
more than three it ems using fue l are swit ched
on, the equipment th at is currentl y using t he
most f uel is displayed.
A scale @ also shows t he current total con-
sumpt ion of all other equipme nt .
Fuel economy messages
Fuel economy messages are displayed when
fue l consumption is increased by certain con-
dit ions ¢ fig. 10 . If you f ollow these fuel
economy messages, you can reduce you r vehi-
cle's consumpt ion of f uel. The messages ap-
pear automatically and are only disp layed in
t he efficiency program . The f uel economy
messages tu rn
off automatically after a cer-
ta in period of ti me.
To turn an economy message
off immediately
after it appears, press any button on t he mul-
t if unct ion steer ing wheel.
@ Tips
- If the data are deleted in the efficiency
program , those values are also reset in
t rip computer.
- Once you have turned a fuel economy
message
off, it will only appear again af-
ter you turn the ig nit ion on again .
- The f uel economy messages are not dis-
played in every instance, but rather in in-
t ervals over a period of t ime .
Odometer

The odometer shows you how many miles
(kilomete rs) you have drive n. You can switch
the display from miles to kilometers and vice
versa via the MMI.
Upper odometer
The trip odometer shows the distance driven
since it was last reset . It can be used to meas-
ure short dista nces. The last digit indicates
1/10 of a mile (100 meters).
You can reset the trip odometer to zero by
pressing the Reset button ~ -
