3: Input & Output Connections
Pre-Power Mode
Pre Mode
Pre-Power AV
The pre-amplifier section is internally connected to the power
amplifier. Thepre-amplifier outputsare operational.
A powered subwoofer can be connected to the pre-amplifier
outputs
A second power amplifier can be connected for bi-amplifying as
shownin the diagram.
An additional power amplifier can also be connected to drive a
secondpair of speakersin aremote location.
All signals to and from the power amplifier of the 8000S are
disconnected. In this mode, the 8000S functions as a stand-alone
pre-amplifier.
The pre-amplifier section of the 8000S can be connected to a
stereopower amplifier, or totwo monobloc amplifiers.
The pre-amplifier and power amplifier sections operate
independently. This mode can be used to connect a multichannel
AVprocessor.
The processor should be connected via any spare tape output or, as
analternative, one ofthe pre-amp outputs.

Thesix inputs maybe used forconnecting any linelevel source.
Three sets of record outputs for connection of up to three stereo
audio recorders, e.g. tape recorder, CD recorder, audio recording
inputof VCR ,DVD, MP3,MiniDisc recorder, etc.
Low impedance (100 ohm) pre-amplifier outputs for driving
external power amplifiers, sub-woofers or signal processors. Long
cables may be used if required. Pre-amp outputs are switched off
whenintegrated mode isselected or wheneveramplifier is muted.
For driving the power amplifier input directly from an external
source.Only operates whenpre power AVmode is selected.
Twosets of loudspeakeroutput terminalsconnected in parallel.
Use only if phono pre-amplifier and turntable are used and both
are Class II double insulated (no earth connection). In this casethe
ground terminalcan be connectedto the metalwork of these units
to eliminate residual hum. Theground terminal must not be used
asa safety earth. If in doubtconsult your dealer.
Connecting Loudspeakers
Switchpower off whenconnecting loudspeakers.
Usegood quality lowresistance loudspeakercable.
Connect the Positive RED (+) terminal of the
amplifier to the Positive (+) RED terminal of the
loudspeaker. Connect the Negative (-) BLACK
terminalssimilarly.
When connecting loudspeakers tighten the
terminalssecurely by hand.
Makethere are no loose strandsofwire whichcould
causeshorts.
Standard Loudspeaker Connection
You can connect a speaker switching box or headphone adaptor to the unused set of speaker terminals
Loudspeaker bi-wiring offers improved sound quality because high and low frequency signals are carried
individually to the loudspeaker drive units.

Operating Modes
Although the8000S is an integrated amplifier, it can function as aseparate pre-amplifier and
poweramplifier.Thisallows the unitto be usedin a varietyof stereo andmultichannel modes.
NOTE: When switching modes, the making and breaking of connections may momentarily
operatethe muting functionon the 8000S.
The pre-amplifier section is internally connected to the power amplifier. Pre-amp outputs are
notoperational. External subwoofers, processors, or amplifierswill not receiveany signal.
