This document outlines the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for Syncro & Tempo Sectional Door Openers, providing a quick guide for users.
Function Description
The Syncro & Tempo Sectional Door Openers are designed to automate the opening and closing of sectional garage doors. They can be operated via user controls on the device, remote controls, and for Syncro models, through a smartphone application connected to your home's WiFi network. The system includes various indicators to provide feedback on its status, battery level, remote control activity, adjustment needs, and network connectivity.
Usage Features
User Operating Controls
The device features a control panel with several buttons and indicators for direct operation and status monitoring:
- Close (01): Initiates the closing sequence of the door.
- Close indicator (02): Illuminates to show the door is closing or closed.
- Stop (03): Halts the door's movement at any point during operation.
- Open (04): Initiates the opening sequence of the door.
- Open indicator (05): Illuminates to show the door is opening or open.
- Mode (06): Used to cycle through different operating modes or settings.
- Status indicator (07): Provides general status feedback of the opener.

Manual Door Operation
In case of power failure or for manual operation, the door can be disengaged and engaged from the opener:
- To Disengage: With the door in the closed position, pull the string handle towards you until you hear a click. This unlocks the door from the opener, allowing it to be operated manually. A crucial safety note is that when disengaged, the door is no longer locked, so it's recommended to re-engage the opener after the door is closed to secure it.
- To Engage: Pull the string handle away from you until you hear a click. After engaging, press the "test" button on a remote control to confirm proper re-engagement. A warning advises against using the string handle as a mechanism to open the door, as this can cause serious injury.
Coding a Remote Control
The opener can store up to 64 remote controls. There are two methods for coding a remote:
1. Directly Coding a Remote Control:
- Step One: Switch on power and remove the controls cover.
- Step Two: Press the "Mode" button repeatedly until the remote LED lights up.
- Step Three: Press and hold the desired button on the remote for 3 seconds, then release. The opener will flash and beep. Press and hold the same button again for 3 seconds, then release. Release both buttons.
- Step Four: Replace the controls cover.
- Step Five: Press the newly coded button on the remote to test its operation.
2. Remotely Coding a Remote Control: This method is used when you have a pre-coded remote and are within range of the opener.
- Step One: Take a pre-coded remote and press its button to duplicate.
- Step Two: Use a pen to press the middle button through the coding hole on the new remote.
- Step Three: The opener will flash and beep.
- Step Four: Take the new remote. Press and hold the desired button for 3 seconds, then release. Press and hold again for 3 seconds, then release.
- Step Five: The opener stops flashing and beeping. Press the button on the new remote to test.
Smart Phone Control (Syncro Only)
The Syncro opener can be controlled via a smartphone app linked to your home's WiFi network.
- Before You Start: Download the ATA App, ensure limits are set, and confirm your home WiFi router is within range of the opener.
- Warning: Operating the door via smartphone means you may not have a line of sight to the door. The door may operate unexpectedly, so ensure no one or nothing is in its path.
- Step One: Remove the controls cover and press the "Mode" button repeatedly until the network LED lights up.
- Step Two: Press and hold the "Open" button for 5 seconds. The LED will turn purple (Hotspot ON).
- Step Three: Go to your phone settings, select the WiFi network (ATA000000), open the ATA App, and click "START."
- Step Four: Set up a new Smart Hub in the app. When "Smart Hub connect" appears, ensure the WiFi network is (ATA000000).
- Step Five: The network LED and light will flash. Press "STOP/SET." Follow the instructions in the app. The network LED will turn blue, then return the controls cover.
Maintenance Features
Changing a Battery (Remote Control)
Remote controls use a CR2032 battery.
- Step One: Check the light status table to determine if the battery needs replacement (Solid = OK, Flashing = Replace, No light = Replace).
- Step Two: Use a screwdriver to remove screws and open the remote.
- Step Three: Use a non-metallic object to push out the old battery.
- Warning: The battery is hazardous and must be kept out of reach of children. Swallowing or placing it inside any part of the body can cause severe or fatal injuries within 2 hours. Seek immediate medical attention if ingestion is suspected.
Troubleshooting
The main light acts as a service/warning indicator, flashing a specific number of times followed by a pause to indicate issues.
- Normal operation (door fully open): No specific remedy, this is normal.
- PE is preventing door from moving: Clear obstructions. Test the door. If the beam is faulty, enter Safety Beam Emergency Close by pressing and holding a pre-coded transmitter button until the door closes.
- Wireless PE battery is low: Change the PE battery.
- Maintenance is due: Contact a dealer to arrange service.
- Standby battery is faulty: Contact customer support for assistance.
- Door was obstructed: Clear obstructions and test door operation. If the door is damaged, contact a door professional.
- Motor overloaded or stalled: Contact a dealer to arrange a door service.
- Unit running on battery power (ATS-3 only): The main light flashes 3 times at the start of the cycle and 10 flashes at the end. Check the power supply.
