Anetworkrouterallowsdevicesonaprivatenetwork(LAN)toshareasingleconnectiontotheinternet.Thisisdonebyforwarding
networktrafcfromtheprivatenetworktothe“outside”,thatis,theinternet.Securityontheprivatenetwork(LAN)isincreased
sincemostroutersarepre-conguredtostopattemptstoaccesstheprivatenetwork(LAN)fromthepublicnetwork(internet).
UseNATtraversalwhentheAxisproductislocatedonanintranet(LAN)andyouwishtomakeitavailablefromtheother(WAN)side
ofaNATrouter.WithNATtraversalproperlycongured,allHTTPtrafctoanexternalHTTPportintheNATrouterisforwardedto
theproduct.

theeld.Ifnorouterisspecied,theproductautomaticallysearchesforNATroutersonyournetwork.Ifmorethanonerouteris
found,thedefaultrouterisselected.
AlternativeHTTPport-SelectthisoptiontomanuallydeneanexternalHTTPport.Enteraportintherange1024–65535.Ifthe
porteldisemptyorcontainsthedefaultsetting,whichis0,aportnumberisautomaticallyselectedwhenenablingNATtraversal.

•AnalternativeHTTPportcanbeusedorbeactiveevenifNATtraversalisdisabled.ThisisusefulifyourNATrouterdoesnot
supportUPnPandyouneedtomanuallycongureportforwardingintheNATrouter.
•Ifyouattempttomanuallyenteraportthatisalreadyinuse,anotheravailableportisautomaticallyselected.

FTP

TheRTSPserverrunningintheAxisproductallowsaconnectingclienttostartanH.264stream.TheRTSPportnumbercanbe
changedunderSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.Thedefaultportis554.

H.264videostreamswillnotbeavailableiftheRTSPserverisdisabled.
SOCKS
SOCKSisanetworkingproxyprotocol.TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtouseaSOCKSservertoreachnetworksontheother
sideofarewallorproxyserver.ThisfunctionalityisusefuliftheAxisproductislocatedonalocalnetworkbehindarewall,and
