The Naples Nook SQR Firepit is an outdoor gas appliance that provides heat and a visual flame using either a 9kg (20lb) propane cylinder with a Type 1 connection or natural gas after a professional conversion kit installation. It features a burner pan designed to hold fire media (lava rock or fire ice) which must completely cover the burner for proper and safe operation. The appliance includes an ignition module for lighting and a control knob to adjust the flame intensity.

Usage Features

Outdoor Use Only: This appliance is strictly for outdoor use in a well-ventilated space. It must not be used in a building, garage, camper, tent, car, home, or any other enclosed area.
Gas Shutoff: When not in use, the gas must be turned off at the supply cylinder.
Safe Operation:
- Do NOT burn solid fuels.
- Ensure burner media (lava rock or fire ice) is evenly distributed over the burner and completely covers it.
- Remove any media from the ignition well before lighting.
- Stay away from the firepit for 20 minutes during initial firing as media may pop.
- Do NOT ignite or use if burner media is wet, as intense heat can cause it to crack and pop.
- Keep children and adults at a safe distance due to high surface temperatures. Young children must be carefully supervised.
- Do not hang clothing or other flammable materials on or near the appliance.
Lighting Instructions:
1. Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position.
2. Push the control knob in and turn it to "ON".
3. Press the igniter button to light the burner.
4. Release the control knob after 15 seconds. If the burner does not light, wait 5 minutes and repeat.
5. Adjust the flame to the desired amount using the control knob.
Propane Tank Storage: Storage of the appliance indoors is permissible only if the cylinder is disconnected and removed. Disconnected cylinders must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children, with threaded valve plugs tightly installed. They must not be stored in a building, garage, or other enclosed areas.
Natural Gas Conversion: Conversion to natural gas must be performed only by a qualified natural gas provider or service company. The manual provides detailed steps for this conversion, including replacing the propane orifice with a natural gas orifice, installing an air shutter, and replacing the propane rubber hose with a 5/8" natural gas pipe (not provided). A conversion label must be affixed to the rating plate after conversion.
Leak Testing: Always perform a leak test with soapy water solution at all connections (tank-regulator, valve-hose, and all gas supply connections after natural gas conversion). NEVER use a flame to check for leaks.
Assembly: The firepit requires assembly, involving attaching panels, supports, and the table top using bolts and washers. The LP tank is secured in a drawer with threaded knobs.

Maintenance Features

Regular Inspection: The appliance should be inspected before each use and at least annually by a professional service person.
Cleaning:
- The control compartments, burners, and circulating air passageways must be kept clean.
- To clean the burner, use a soft brush after it has cooled completely. Do not use a vacuum cleaner on the burner.
Hose Inspection: Before each use, inspect the LP hose for evidence of excessive abrasion, wear, or cuts. Replace if damaged, using only the specified replacement hose assembly.

Battery Replacement: The ignition module requires one Alkaline AA size battery (1.5V). The negative (-) end goes in first. Dispose of batteries safely and promptly.
Winter Storage: It is recommended to store the fire pit indoors during winter if it will be subjected to freezing temperatures. The LP cylinder must be disconnected and removed from the appliance before indoor storage.
Furniture Covers: While covers protect from weather and UV light, ensure furniture and covers are free of moisture and debris before covering. Promptly uncover after rain and during high humidity to prevent moisture buildup and potential surface/finish damage.
Flame Appearance: The flames should appear as depicted in the manual's maintenance section, indicating proper operation.

Regulator Use: Only the propane gas pressure regulator provided with this appliance (set for 11 inches water column outlet pressure) must be used.
