Overview

This document describes the Naples Nook Rect Firepit, an outdoor gas appliance designed for ambiance and warmth, not for cooking. It is crucial to adhere to all safety warnings and installation instructions to prevent property damage, personal injury, or even death.

Function Description

The Naples Nook Rect Firepit is a gas-fueled outdoor firepit that provides heat and a decorative flame. It operates using either a 9kg (20lb) propane cylinder with a Type 1 connection or can be converted to natural gas with a professionally installed conversion kit. The firepit features a burner pan where media like fire ice or lava rock (not included) are placed to enhance the visual effect of the flames. An ignition module with an igniter button and a control knob allows users to light the burner and adjust the flame intensity. A thermocouple is integrated into the system to ensure safe operation by detecting the presence of a flame.

Usage Features

The firepit is designed for outdoor use only, in a well-ventilated space, and must never be used in a building, garage, camper, tent, car, or home due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It is explicitly stated that this product is unsafe for cooking.

Before each use, users must ensure the appliance area is clear of combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids. The LP hose should be inspected for any signs of abrasion, wear, or cuts, and the burner should be checked for damage. If any issues are found, replacement parts must be used before operating the appliance.

To operate the firepit, the control knob must first be in the "OFF" position. The LP tank is placed in a dedicated drawer and connected to the regulator. The tank valve is then opened, and a soapy water solution is used to check for leaks at the tank-regulator and valve-hose connections. If bubbles appear, indicating a leak, the tank valve must be closed, and all connections tightened. It is critical to never use a flame to check for leaks.

Once connections are secure and leak-free, the burner media (fire ice or lava rock) must be poured into the burner pan, ensuring the burner is completely covered, but the ignition well is clear. The ignition module requires one AA size battery (1.5V) for operation, with the negative end inserted first.

To light the burner, the control knob is pushed and turned to the "ON" position. The igniter button is then held to light the burner. After 15 seconds, the control knob can be released. If the burner does not light, users must wait 5 minutes before repeating the process. Once lit, the flame can be adjusted to the desired intensity using the control knob.

In case of a gas smell, immediate action is required: shut off the gas to the appliance, extinguish any open flames, leave the area immediately, and then call the gas supplier or fire department. Failure to follow these instructions can lead to fire or explosion.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the safe and proper functioning of the firepit. The appliance should be inspected before each use and at least annually by a professional service person. More frequent cleaning may be necessary depending on usage. It is imperative to keep the control compartments, burners, and circulating air passageways clean.

To clean the burner, a soft brush should be used after the burner has completely cooled. A vacuum cleaner should never be used on the burner.

During initial firing, users should stay away from the firepit for 20 minutes as the fire media (lava rock or fire ice) may pop and hit someone. It is also crucial not to ignite or use the firepit if the burner media are wet, as intense heat can cause them to crack and pop.

When the appliance is not in use, the gas must be turned off at the supply cylinder. Storage of the appliance indoors is permissible only if the LP cylinder is disconnected and removed. Disconnected cylinders must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children, with threaded valve plugs tightly installed, and never in a building, garage, or other enclosed areas.

For winter storage, especially if subjected to freezing temperatures, it is recommended to store the firepit indoors. Before storing indoors, the LP cylinder must be disconnected and removed from the appliance.

Furniture covers are useful for protection against weather and UV light, but it's important to ensure the furniture and covers are free of moisture and debris before covering. Promptly uncovering furniture after rain and during periods of high humidity is necessary to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to permanent surface and finish damage.

Only factory-approved replacement parts and accessories should be used. Using unapproved parts or accessories can void the warranty and create a hazardous condition. Information regarding replacement hoses, thermocouples, electrodes, ignition modules, lava rocks, logs, and fire ice can be obtained by contacting customer service.
