Why won't my Bard Heat Pump fan motor run outdoors?
    • M
      Miss Brittany VelazquezAug 17, 2025
If the outdoor fan motor of your Bard Heat Pump isn't running, it could be due to a few reasons. The heat pump control might be defective; check across the fan relay on the heat pump control (Com-NC) and consider replacing the heat pump control. The motor itself could be defective; check for open or shorted motor windings and replace the motor if necessary. Alternatively, the motor capacitor might be defective; check the capacitor rating and for any opens or shorts, and replace the capacitor if needed.

What to do if Bard Heat Pump unit will not go into defrost?
    • M
      millerkellyAug 23, 2025
If your Bard Heat Pump unit isn't going into defrost, it could be due to a defective temperature sensor or heat pump control. Disconnect the temperature sensor from the board and use a jumper across the "SPEEDUP" and "SEN JMP" terminals. This should initiate a defrost cycle within one minute. If the unit then goes through a defrost cycle, the temperature sensor needs to be replaced. If it still doesn't defrost, the heat pump control should be replaced.

If your Bard Heat Pump is stuck in defrost mode, it may be due to a defective temperature sensor or heat pump control. Try using a jumper across the "SPEEDUP" terminal. This should cause the unit to exit defrost within one minute. If it comes out of defrost, replace the temperature sensor. If it remains in defrost, replace the heat pump control.

How to troubleshoot a Bard Heat Pump reversing valve that won't energize?
    • E
      Edward SmithSep 4, 2025
If the reversing valve on your Bard Heat Pump isn't energizing, first check for 24V between RV-C and B-C. Inspect the control circuit wiring. If the wiring is correct, the heat pump control may be defective and require replacement. Also, the reversing valve solenoid coil could be defective; check the coil for opens or shorts and replace it if necessary.

What to do if my Bard I30H1-A Heat Pump compressor will not start?
    • U
      ubeckNov 10, 2025
If the compressor of your Bard Heat Pump isn't starting, begin by checking for LED illumination on the board. Is there an LED illuminated (flashing)? Check if the LED is flashing a code. Check for power at the board; there should be 24 volts AC between R and C. Also, check for compressor input signal by verifying 24 volts AC between Y and C, and check for compressor output signal by verifying 24 volts AC between CC & C. If the compressor delay is active, wait for 5 minutes or jump the board's "speed up pins". If there is a low or high pressure fault, check the wiring circuit and unit pressures. For a condensate overflow fault, check the upper indoor coil drains, lower outdoor coil drains, and the main drain line. If there is no "Y" compressor input signal, check the thermostat wiring, the ...
