This chapter provides detailed information about the features available on each camera. It also
includes an explanation of their operation and the parameters associated with each feature.
8.1 Camera Link Pixel Clock Speed
The camera provides selectable Camera Link pixel clock speeds. The pixel clock speed determines
the rate at which pixel data will be transmitted from the camera to the frame grabber in your
computer via the Camera Link interface. The following nominal pixel clock speeds are available:
32.5 MHz, 48 MHz, and 65 MHz, and 83.5 MHz. The default clock speed is 83.5 MHz (nominal).

The rate at which image data is transferred from the camera to the frame grabber depends on the
set pixel clock speed. Setting the camera for a higher pixel clock speed will increase the transfer
rate. Some frame grabbers, however, cannot operate at the higher clock speeds. So it is important
that you determine the maximum clock speed that your frame grabber can handle and that you set
the camera’s pixel clock speed no higher than the frame grabber’s maximum.
Keep in mind that if you set the camera for one of the lower pixel clock speeds, it may limit the
camera’s maximum allowed line acquisition rate.
For technical reasons, pixel clock speeds must be set as nominal pixel clock
speeds. However, an actual pixel clock speed of a camera can slightly differ from
its nominal value (see below).
Unless noted otherwise, the descriptions in this manual use the nominal pixel
clock speeds.
