Overview

This document describes the Centronic SunWindControl SWC441-II, a hand-held transmitter designed for controlling sun protection systems. It provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, operation, and maintenance, ensuring safe and effective use.

Function Description

The Centronic SunWindControl SWC441-II is a versatile hand-held transmitter capable of operating one or more sun protection systems. It features both manual and automatic control modes, allowing for flexible management of sunshades and wind protection.

Manual/Auto Sliding Switch: The device incorporates a sliding switch that enables users to toggle between manual and automatic operation.

  • In the manual position ("UP", "STOP", "DOWN" pushbuttons), the transmitter sends manual control commands. An alarm signal (e.g., wind alarm from a wind sensor) will also be executed.
  • In the automatic position, the transmitter sends automatic control commands (e.g., sun protection function).
  • If a manual operation is executed during automatic mode, the automatic sun protection functions are temporarily interrupted. These functions are reactivated automatically once the programmed threshold values are exceeded or undercut, or after retraction via the sliding switch from "UP" or "DOWN" and back to the automatic position.

Channel Control: The hand-held transmitter can be programmed to control individual receivers or groups of receivers. This allows for customized control setups, managing multiple sun protection systems from a single device.

Wind Threshold Control Switch: This control switch allows for adjustment of the wind threshold values, ranging from approximately 2 m/s to 22 m/s. The wind threshold value can be set across 11 different levels. Turning the control switch slowly produces a clicking sound for each level, indicating a change in setting.

  • Left limit stop = Level 1: retract when wind speed is low.
  • Right limit stop = Level 11: retract when wind speed is high. If the threshold values are changed, they are adopted immediately.

Sun Threshold Control Switch: This control switch allows for adjustment of the sun threshold values, ranging from approximately 5 KLux to 100 KLux. The sun threshold value can be set across 15 different levels. Turning the control switch slowly produces a clicking sound for each level.

  • Left limit stop = Level 1: extend when sun intensity is low.
  • Right limit stop = Level 15: extend when sun intensity is high. If the threshold values are changed, they are adopted immediately.

TEST Mode: The TEST mode is activated by adjusting the threshold value. This mode automatically ends after approximately 15 minutes. Alternatively, the sliding switch can be used to deactivate the test mode immediately. In TEST mode, the times for the sunshade function and wind control are reduced, allowing for quicker testing of the system's responses.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Nominal voltage: 3 V DC
  • Battery type: CR 2430
  • Protection class: IP 20
  • Permissible surrounding temperature: -10 to +55 °C
  • Radio frequency: 868.3 MHz

Usage Features

Displays and Pushbuttons: The transmitter features several controls for intuitive operation:

  1. Setting aid: Used for initial setup.
  2. Wind threshold control switch: Adjusts wind sensitivity.
  3. Sun threshold control switch: Adjusts sun intensity sensitivity.
  4. RETRACT button: Retracts the sun protection system.
  5. STOP pushbutton: Stops the movement of the sun protection system.
  6. EXTEND button: Extends the sun protection system.
  7. Sliding Switch: Toggles between manual and automatic modes.
  8. Programming pushbutton: Used for programming the transmitter with receivers.
  9. Labelling space: For user-defined labels.
  10. Type plate: Displays device information.

Programming the Remote Control: Programming involves linking the transmitter with the receiver(s).

  1. Learning the master transmitter:
    • Put the receiver into learn mode by either switching off and reconnecting its power supply after 5 seconds, or by actuating the programming button on the receiver. The receiver will remain in "Learn" mode for 3 minutes.
    • Press the programming button of the master transmitter until the receiver acknowledges successful programming.
  2. Learning additional transmitters:
    • Press the learn button of the master transmitter until the receiver acknowledges.
    • Press the learn button of the new transmitter until the receiver acknowledges.
    • Press the learn button of the new transmitter once again. The receiver will indicate successful completion.
    • It is crucial to ensure the threshold control switches are set to factory settings before programming and to avoid being in the operating area of the sun protection system during programming.

Wall Mount Installation: The transmitter can be mounted on a wall using the provided wall holder and mounting plate.

  • Ensure the transmitter and receiver are functioning properly before installation.
  • Fix the wall mount to the wall using the two screws provided.

Maintenance Features

Battery Replacement: The device uses a CR 2430 battery. The manual provides clear illustrations for replacing the battery, ensuring proper insertion. If the drive is not functioning, a flat or incorrectly inserted battery is a common cause.

Cleaning: The device should be cleaned with a damp cloth only. Avoid using cleansing agents that could damage the plastic components.

Troubleshooting: The manual includes a "What to do if...?" section to help users diagnose and resolve common issues:

  • Drive is not functioning:
    • Cause: Flat battery, incorrectly inserted battery, receiver outside radio range, transmitter not programmed.
    • Remedy: Insert new battery, insert battery correctly, reduce distance to receiver, program transmitter.
  • Automatic control commands are not executed:
    • Cause: Sliding switch not in the automatic position, automatic sun protection function interrupted by manual command.
    • Remedy: Set sliding switch to automatic position, turn sliding switch to manual and back to automatic.
  • System not extended automatically when sliding switch is set to automatic:
    • Cause: Sunlight intensity below threshold value, wind speed exceeds threshold value.
    • Remedy: Adjust sun threshold value, wait until wind abates.
  • System not extended manually when sliding switch is set to manual:
    • Cause: Wind speed exceeds threshold value.
    • Remedy: Wait until wind abates.

Safety Tips:

  • Always keep the instructions in a safe place.
  • Use in dry rooms only.
  • Use only unmodified Becker original parts.
  • Keep persons away from the system guide track.
  • Keep children away from controls.
  • Comply with national stipulations.
  • Dispose of used batteries correctly; replace with an identical battery type (CR 2430).
  • If the system is controlled using one or several transmitters, the system guide track must be visible during operation.
  • Refer to the specifications given in the operating instructions for the sun protection system.
  • Ensure controls are not installed or operated in the vicinity of metal surfaces or magnetic fields, as radio signals can be restricted.
