APPENDIX 3
ETL & cETL certification for installations in
USA and Canada.
A3.0 cETL Mark
For installations in the USA and Canada, all the
models have ETL and cETL intrinsic safety and
nonincendive approval, Control Number 4008610.
Copies of the Authorisation to Mark may be
downloaded from the BEKA associates website
www.beka.co.uk
or requested from the BEKA
associates sales office
A3.1 Intrinsic safety approval
The US and Canadian standards used for
assessment and certification of the indicators are
listed on the ETL Authorisation to Mark.
Installations must comply with BEKA associates
Control Drawing CI300-83, which is attached to
this appendix.
The ETL safety parameters are the same as the
ATEX and IECEx parameters, the systems shown
in sections 3 and 4 of this manual may therefore
also be used for US and Canadian installations
subject to compliance with the local codes of
practice and the BEKA Control Drawing.

A3.2 Nonincendive approval
The indicators also have ETL nonincendive
approval allowing installation in Class I Division 2
hazardous (classified) locations without the need
for Zener barriers or galvanic isolators.
Installations must comply with BEKA associates
Control Drawing CI300-84, which is attached to
this appendix, and with the local codes of practice.
The requirements for nonincendive electrical
equipment for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous
(classified) areas is defined by the following
harmonised US / Canadian Standards:
Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
UL 121201
Canadian Standards Group.
CSA C22.2 No. 213-17
The Standards define the requirements for the
design, construction and marking of Class I
Division 2 nonincendive equipment and the
requirements for the interconnection of
nonincendive equipment and associated
nonincendive equipment.
