Overview

The Bennett Read Tough 18 is a versatile wet-dry-blow vacuum system designed for household use, offering robust cleaning capabilities for various surfaces and tasks. It incorporates advanced technology to provide powerful cleaning in a compact and durable system.

Function Description:

The Tough 18 serves as a multi-functional cleaning appliance, capable of:

  • Dry Vacuuming: Effectively cleans carpets, tiles, mattresses, upholstery, curtains, and car interiors by sucking up dry dirt and debris.
  • Wet Vacuuming: Can suck up liquids and wet spills around the home, making it suitable for accidental spills. It is important to note that it is not a carpet deep cleaner and should not be used for boiling hot, flammable, or combustible liquids.
  • Blower Function: Allows users to blow away leaves, grass, sawdust, and other light debris from patios or workshops.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Nominal Voltage: 220-240 V AC
  • Nominal Frequency: 50/60 Hz
  • Power Output: 800 - 1000W
  • Dirt Tank Capacity: 18 Litres
  • Model Number: YLW78

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: The vacuum comes with clear instructions for attaching wheel housings and caster wheels using a Philips screwdriver.
  • Motor Unit and Tank: The Motor Unit (2) can be easily removed from the Dirt/Water Tank (4) by pulling the Locking Clips (3) outwards, facilitating setup for different functions and emptying.
  • Microparticle Filter (16): Essential for dry vacuuming, this filter must be securely installed. For wet vacuuming, it MUST be removed to prevent damage and ensure proper operation.
  • Flexi-Hose (10): An ultra-durable hose that connects to either the Vacuum Function Hose Port (5) for suction or the Blower Function Hose Port (7) for blowing. It features a Hose Handle (11) with variable airflow control.
  • Extension Wands (12): A 2-piece extension wand can be joined together and attached to the Flexi-Hose Handle for extended reach.
  • Floor Nozzles:
    • Dry Floor Nozzle Attachment (15): Attaches to the Floor Nozzle (13) for dry vacuuming.
    • Wet Floor Nozzle Attachment (14): Features a squeegee blade and attaches to the Floor Nozzle (13) for wet vacuuming.

  • Power Cord (8): Plugs into a wall socket to power the unit.
  • Power Switch (1): Used to turn the vacuum on and off.
  • Onboard Storage Docks (9): Conveniently store accessories on the unit itself.
  • Caster Wheels (6): Provide easy mobility for the vacuum.
  • Float Valve: The Tough 18 is equipped with a float valve at the bottom of the Motor Unit, which partially shuts off suction when the tank reaches capacity during wet vacuuming to prevent overfilling. Users should immediately switch off the machine and empty the tank when this occurs.
  • Double-Up Guarantee: The product comes with a 1-year guarantee, which can be extended to 2 years by registering online within 14 days of purchase via a QR code or the manufacturer's website.

Maintenance Features:

  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section for common issues such as the machine not switching on, weak suction, visible dust escaping, or the machine switching off during operation (thermal cut-off switch). It provides possible causes and remedies, emphasizing the importance of regular filter cleaning and checking for obstructions.
