The length and the diameter of the sighting tube
have a direct influence on the usable flame radiation
as the visual angle of the lens system is defined.
Without restriction of the visual range, the maximum
length L of a sighting tube for conventional tube di-
ameters D is as follows:
D: 1“ 1.5“ 2“
L: 0.5 m 0.8 m 1.1 m
For this reason, the sighting tube should always be
as short as possible. A diameter of 2" is recom-
mended.
At a diameter of 1", the sighting tube should not be
any longer than 50 cm. When doubling the length,
double the diameter to 2" !
