SERVSWITCH™ SPECTRA
3. Installation
3.1 The Spectra’s Optional Mounting Plate
The ServSwitch Spectra is slightly topheavy and can
sometimes tip over when all of the CPU cables and
user-station devices are connected to it. If you want to,
you can mount the Spectra more firmly on a flat surface
with its included mounting plate. For directions on
doing this, see Appendix B.
3.2 Things to Keep in Mind Before You Install
• Any CPU you connect to the ServSwitch Spectra
must meet these guidelines:
– It needs to be IBM PC compatible, not Apple
Macintosh or some other non-PC hardware type.
The Spectra can support many older PCs, but
it probably won’t work with computers made
before about 1989.
– It needs to have a VGA style video port (a D-
shaped HD15 connector with three rows of five
pin sockets).
