7.CollisionWarning
19
Thecamera-basedcollisionwarningispartoftheActiveDrivingAssistantoptionalequipment
(OE5AS)intheG12andisimplementedusingtheKAFASstereocamera.
ThecollisionwarninginthenewBMW7Seriescontainsthefamiliar"Collisionwarningwithcity
brakeactivation"andthe"Pedestrianwarningwithcitybrakeactivation"functions.
InvehicleswiththeActiveCruiseControlwithStop&Gofunctionoptionalequipment(OEZN7),
thecruisecontrolradarsensorisalsousedtocontrolthecollisionwarning.
VehicleswiththeActiveDrivingAssistantPlusoptionalequipment(OE5AT)havetheActiveCruise
ControlwithStop&Gofunctionoptionalequipment(OEZN7)integratedasstandard.
IfthevehicleisnotequippedwiththeActiveDrivingAssistant(OE5AS)orActiveDrivingAssistant
Plus(OE5AT)optionalequipment,butdoeshavetheActiveCruiseControlwithStop&Gofunction
optionalequipment(OEZN7),thecustomeralsoreceivesacollisionwarning.However,inthiscase
thepedestrianwarningisnotincluded.
Thesystemwarnsthedriverinsituationswhereacollisionisimminent.Theearlywarning,avisual
signal,isissuedfirsttodrawthedriver'sattentiontothesituation.Ifthesituationbecomesmore
critical,anacuteearlywarningintheformofavisualandacousticsignalisissued.Thenatureofthe
warningissuchthatthedrivercanstillpreventacollisionprovidingheactsquickly.
7.1.Functionalprinciple
TheKAFASstereocameracapturesthesceneinfrontofthevehicleanddetectsentirerearviews
ofmovingandstationaryvehiclesinthefieldofviewusingimageprocessing.
InvehicleswiththeActiveCruiseControlwithStop&Gofunctionoptionalequipment(OEZN7),in
additiontotheKAFASstereocameraimagedata,informationfromtheradarsensorisalsoevaluated.
