3. Product Description
3.1 Intended use
The mobile Bosch Emissions Analysis, hereafter
called BEA 550 is designed to facilitate user-friendly
emissions tests of vehicles.
BEA 550 is a location-independent modular system for
the measurement of diesel and gasoline vehicle emis-
sions. The range of test specimens includes the entire
spectrum of gasoline and diesel road vehicles on which
emission measurements have to be performed during
workshop inspections, both to comply with legal re-
quirements and for the purposes of localizing and recti-
fying faults.
! If the BEA 550 and the supplied accessories are
operated contrary to the way specified by the manu-
facturer in the operating instructions, the protection
provided by the BEA 550 and the supplied accesso-
ries may be compromised.
3.2 Scope of delivery
i The scope of delivery depends on the product variant
ordered as well as the special accessories ordered,
and can deviate from the following list.

3.3 Special accessories
Information on special accessories, such as vehicle-
specific connecting cables, extra measurement leads
and connecting cables, can be obtained from your au-
thorized Bosch dealer.
3.4 Prerequisites
The BEA 550 can only be operated from a computer and
with the SystemSoft BEA-PC.
3.4.1 Hardware
R Computer with operating system Windows7, Win-
dows8 or Windows10
R DVD drive
R CPU (processor) 2GHz or higher
R Hard drive with at least 5GB of free storage space
R 4GB of RAM or more
R Two vacant USB ports for the Bluetooth USB adapter
and for a USB connecting cable
3.4.2 Software
SystemSoft BEA-PC installed on the computer.

3.5 Components
! Use BEA550 in enclosed workshop areas only. Pro-
tect the BEA550 against moisture.
The BEA 550 consists of BEA030, BEA060, BEA070
and, depending on version, also KTS515. Refer to the
operating instructions for notes on these components.
