Overview

This document describes an induction hob, focusing on its functions, usage features, and maintenance.

The induction hob is a modern cooking appliance designed for preparing meals and drinks in private households. It operates by generating heat directly in the cookware through electromagnetic induction, offering benefits such as faster cooking, energy savings, and improved heat control compared to conventional hobs. The appliance is designed for safe use, with specific instructions for installation, operation, and user interaction. It features a control panel with touch fields and displays for various functions, including power levels, timers, and special cooking modes.

Function Description

The induction hob offers a range of functions to enhance the cooking experience:

  • Basic Operation: The hob is switched on by touching the main switch, illuminating symbols for cooking zones and available functions. Power levels, ranging from 1 to 9 with intermediate values, can be selected for each cooking zone. A "QuickStart" feature automatically detects cookware placed on a zone before switching on, allowing for immediate power level selection. The hob automatically switches off if no cookware is detected or if a cooking zone is left unattended for an extended period.
  • FlexInduction: This feature allows for flexible placement of cookware of various shapes and sizes. It consists of multiple inductors that work independently, activating only the area covered by cookware. The flexible cooking zone can be configured as a single large zone for one item of cookware or as two separate zones for multiple items, with independent power level settings. When connected, the flexible zone's indicator lights up more brightly.
  • Extended FlexInduction: This extends the flexible cooking zone, allowing for even larger or longer cookware to be used. It always operates in conjunction with one of the two flexible cooking zones and cannot be activated separately. Cookware should be positioned in the middle over the rear part of the flexible cooking zone and its extension for optimal heat distribution.
  • PowerBoost: This function enables faster heating of large quantities of water by providing increased power to a cooking zone. It is available for all cooking zones, provided no other cooking zone on the same side is in use. If another zone is active, the display will flash, and the hob will automatically set to power level 9 without activating PowerBoost.
  • PanBoost: Designed for quickly heating pans, this function is activated via Home Connect or the Favourite button. It is recommended for use with cold pans with a completely flat base and should not be used with frying pans to avoid damaging their coating. The function automatically switches off after 30 seconds to prevent high temperatures.
  • Keep-warm function: This function is ideal for melting chocolate or butter and keeping meals warm. It can be activated via Home Connect or the Favourite button.
  • PerfectFry Sensor: This advanced function helps control the temperature during melting, sauce preparation, sautéing, deep frying, or frying. Sensors under the glass ceramic measure and maintain the cookware's temperature, eliminating the need for constant power level adjustments. Special cookware is recommended for optimal results, though other cookware can be used with potential variations in achieved temperature.
  • Time-setting options: The hob includes a "Switch-off timer" and a "Timer." The switch-off timer allows programming a cooking time for one or more zones, with automatic switch-off once the time elapses. The timer operates independently of cooking zones and other settings, providing an audible signal when the set time has elapsed without switching off cooking zones.
  • Favourite button: This customizable button allows users to quickly access two pre-assigned functions or cooking settings, configured via the Home Connect app.
  • Transfer settings: This function allows transferring the power level and programmed cooking time from one cooking zone to another by moving the cookware.
  • Childproof lock: This safety feature prevents children from switching on the hob. It can be manually activated and deactivated, or set to activate automatically every time the hob is switched off.
  • Pause: This function allows pausing and resuming active cooking processes for up to 10 minutes without altering selected settings. It can be used, for example, to clean the control panel during cooking.
  • Individual safety switch-off: If a cooking zone operates for an extended period without any settings being changed, this safety function automatically switches off the zone, displaying "FB." The duration before switch-off depends on the selected power level.
  • Home Connect: The appliance is network-capable, allowing control of its functions, adjustment of basic settings, and monitoring of its operating status via the Home Connect app on a mobile device. This includes features like software updates, remote diagnostics, and automatic presence detection.
  • Hob-based hood control: If both the hob and extractor hood are Home Connect-compatible, the hood can be controlled via the hob's control panel or the Home Connect app. This allows for adjusting fan settings (off, manual modes, intensive modes, automatic mode) and hood lighting.

Usage Features

The induction hob is designed for intuitive and convenient use:

  • Control Panel: The touch-sensitive control panel provides clear displays and symbols for easy interaction. Users can select cooking zones, adjust power levels, set timers, and activate special functions by touching the corresponding fields.
  • Cookware Detection: The hob automatically detects suitable cookware placed on its zones, simplifying the setup process. For flexible zones, it adapts to the size and position of the cookware, splitting or connecting zones as needed.
  • Cooking Recommendations: The manual provides detailed tables with recommended power levels and cooking times for various foods, including melting, heating, keeping warm, defrosting, poaching, simmering, boiling, steaming, braising, and frying.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Instructions are provided to optimize energy consumption, such as selecting appropriate cookware size, using lids, cooking with minimal water, and reducing power levels early.
  • Software Updates: The Home Connect feature allows for software updates, ensuring the appliance benefits from the latest optimizations, troubleshooting, and security enhancements.
  • Remote Control: Through the Home Connect app, users can remotely control hob functions, adjust settings, and monitor the appliance's status, offering flexibility and convenience.
  • Automatic Presence Detection: When activated via Home Connect, this feature allows users to confirm settings from their mobile device when near the hob, streamlining the remote control experience.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of the induction hob:

  • Initial Cleaning: Before first use, any packaging residue should be removed, and the hob surface wiped with a damp cloth.
  • Regular Cleaning: The hob should be cleaned after every use to prevent cooking residues from burning on. It is crucial to clean the hob when it is cold.
  • Cleaning Products: Only cleaning agents suitable for glass ceramic should be used. A glass scraper is recommended for removing heavy soiling. Unsuitable cleaning products, such as undiluted detergents, abrasive cleaners, oven sprays, or high-pressure/steam cleaners, should be avoided as they can damage the surface.
  • Hob Surround Cleaning: If the hob frame becomes dirty or stained, it should be cleaned with hot soapy water and a soft cloth, then dried. A glass scraper should not be used on the hob surround.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for minor faults, including common causes and solutions for display issues, overheating, and function errors. This helps users resolve problems independently before contacting customer service.
  • Customer Service: For more complex issues or repairs, trained specialist staff should be contacted. Only genuine spare parts should be used. Information on warranty, product numbers, and contact details for customer service are provided.
  • Disposal: Instructions for environmentally friendly disposal of the old appliance are included, emphasizing recycling valuable raw materials.
