II. OPERATION
II.1 Set-Up
1) Besurethatthepowerswitchisoff.Attachthepowercordtotheappropriatepowersource.
2) Movetheoperatinghandletothetop(uppermost)position.
3) Connecttheprinter(ifused)totheparallelport.Besuretheprinterpowerisoff.
4) LoosenthethumbscrewontheViscometershaft;insertthepaddlespindleintotheViscometer
shaft,asfarasitwillgo.Lineupthegrooveonthespindlewiththeholethatthethumbscrew
goesinto.Tightenthethumbscrew.
5) For Quart Cans: Thecanwillbeplaceddirectlyontheviscometerbase.
6) For Pint Cans: Placethepintcanadapter(KU1-74)ontheviscometerbase,pullingthe
springloadedfrontlocatoroutandplacingtheadapteragainsttherearlocatingpins.Release
thelocatortosecuretheadapterinplace.
7) For 1/2 Pint Cans: Followtheprocedureforpintcans.Placethe1/2pintcanadapter(KU1-
73)ontopofthepintcanadapter(KU1-74).
II.2 Taking Measurements
1) Poursampleintothecontainer.Fillto3/4inch(20mm)
belowthecontainerlip.
2) Bringthesampleinthecontainertothespeciedtemperature.
3) SwitchontheKU-2powerswitchandthentheprinter(if
used).SwitchtheHoldReadingSwitchtotheupposition.

4) Selectthedesireddisplay(KU,gmorcP)usingtheDisplay
unitSelectorswitch.(Thissettingmaybechangedat
anytimeduringthetest.)
5) For Quart Cans: Place the sample container on the
Viscometerbasebypullingthespringloadedfrontlocator
out,placingthecontaineragainsttherearofthelocating
pins,andreleasingthelocatortosecurethecaninplace.
6) For Pint & 1/2 Pint Cans: Placethesamplecontainer
directlyonthecanadaptermountedontheviscometer
base.
7) MovetheViscometerhandledowntothelowestposition.
This will automatically immerse the spindle into the
uid.Ifthecorrectamountofuidhasbeenputintothe
container,thesurfaceoftheuidwillbeattheimmersion
markofthespindle.
