To isolate a shorted data cable on the Sidewall or Ceiling data bus, employ the half-
splitting method:
1. Disconnect half of the LCM units on the affected CAN data trunk.
2. Confirm whether or not proper LCM function has returned to the LCM units
between the MLCP and the last LCM unit in the prior to the point where the data
cable was separated.
3. If the problem still persists, disconnect half of the remaining LCM units from the
remaining data trunk, and so forth, until the shorted data cable segment is
identified.
5.6.4.2 Issue #2: Two or More Adjacent LCM Units on a Ceiling or Sidewall Data Trunk
Fail to Respond
During the execution of the Test Scenario if it is noted that two or more adjacent LCM
units fail to respond to the Test Scenario while the rest of the LCM units on the affected
Sidewall or Ceiling trunk, then this is likely indicative of an Open data cable or faulty
data connector. The unresponsive LCM units will display the HIGH (Default White)
Scenario and will likely be the LCM units furthest from the MLCP unit controlling that
zone.
Isolation of an open data cable condition in the BR3000 MLS system is quite easy
simply from visual observation. The location of the open data cable or connector will be
between the last responsive LCM unit and the first unresponsive LCM unit.
