4. Connect the positive (+) (red)
cable to the positive (+) termi-
nal on the discharged battery.
Use the remote positive (+)
terminal if the vehicle has one.
5. Don't let the other end touch
metal, then connect it to the
positive (+) terminal of the
good battery.
Use the remote positive (+)
terminal if the vehicle has one.
6. Now take the negative (-)
(black) cable. First connect
it to the good battery's
negative (-) terminal. Use the
remote negative (-) terminal if
the vehicle has one. Don't let
the other end touch metal yet.
7. Attach the other end of the
negative cable to a heavy
metal part on the engine
of the vehicle with the
discharged battery, or to a
remote negative (-) terminal if
the vehicle has one.
Do not connect the
negative (-) cable to the
negative (-) terminal on the
dead battery because this can
cause sparks.
