What to do if the flames blow out on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • E
      Erin MasseyAug 15, 2025
If the flames are blowing out on your Char-Broil Grill, it could be due to high or gusting winds. Try turning the front of the grill to face the wind or increase the flame height by turning the gas valve to a higher position. Another cause could be low LP gas, so refill the LP cylinder. It's also possible that the excess flow valve has tripped; in this case, refer to “Sudden drop in gas flow”.

Why is there a sudden drop in gas flow on my Char-Broil 463347017?
    • Q
      qdavisAug 18, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or low flame on your Char-Broil Grill can happen if you're out of gas, so check the LP cylinder. Another cause could be a tripped excess flow valve. To fix this, turn off the knobs, wait 30 seconds, and light the grill. If the flames are still low, turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the regulator, reconnect it, leak-test, turn on the LP cylinder valve, wait 30 seconds, and then light the grill. Vapor lock at the coupling nut/LP cylinder connection can also cause this issue. Turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the coupling nut from the cylinder, reconnect it, and try again.

Why doesn't one burner light from the others on my Char-Broil 463347017?
    • D
      Derek SchultzAug 21, 2025
If one burner does not light from the other burners on your Char-Broil Grill, it might be due to grease buildup or food particles in the end(s) of the carryover tube(s). Clean the carry-over tube(s) with a wire brush to resolve this issue.

Why no sparks with noise from module on my Char-Broil 463347017?
    • M
      Michael LiAug 26, 2025
If no sparks appear at any electrodes when the Electronic Ignition Button is pressed on your Char-Broil Grill, but you can hear noise from the spark module, the output lead connections may not be connected. Remove and reconnect all output connections at the module and electrodes.

Why no sparks and no noise from module on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • M
      Marcus GonzalezAug 28, 2025
If no sparks appear at any electrodes when you press the Electronic Ignition Button on your Char-Broil Grill, and you hear no noise from the spark module, several issues could be at play. First, ensure the battery is installed correctly, with the “+” and “–” connectors oriented correctly, with “+” on the cap end. A dead battery could also be the culprit, so replace it with a new alkaline battery. Check that the button assembly is installed properly by unscrewing the button cap assembly and reinstalling it, making sure the threads are aligned and engaged fully. Finally, a faulty spark module could be the cause, in which case you should replace the spark module assembly.

How to prevent flare-ups on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • J
      Joan DanielsSep 1, 2025
Flare-ups on your Char-Broil Grill are often caused by grease buildup. Make sure to clean the burners and the inside of the grill/firebox regularly. Also, excessive fat in the meat can cause flare-ups, so trim the fat before grilling. Finally, high cooking temperatures can lead to flare-ups, so adjust the temperature accordingly.

What to do if I have a persistent grease fire on my Char-Broil 463347017?
    • A
      Ashley MillerSep 4, 2025
If you're experiencing a persistent grease fire on your Char-Broil Grill, it's likely due to grease trapped by food buildup around the burner system. Turn the knobs to OFF, turn the gas off at the LP cylinder, leave the lid in position, and let the fire burn out. After the grill cools, remove and clean all parts.

What causes flashback in the burner tubes of my Char-Broil 463347017?
    • M
      Michael ObrienSep 7, 2025
If you observe flashback (fire in burner tubes) in your Char-Broil Grill, it's likely that the burner and/or burner tubes are blocked. Turn the knobs to OFF and clean the burner and/or burner tubes. Refer to the burner cleaning section of the Use and Care guide for detailed instructions.

Why are sparks weak on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • A
      anorrisSep 12, 2025
If sparks are present but not at all electrodes or not at full strength on your Char-Broil Grill, check the output lead connections and reconnect all output connections at the module and electrodes. Arcing to the grill away from the burner(s) can also be the cause. If possible, observe the grill in a dark location, operate the ignition system, and look for arcing between the output wires and the grill frame. A weak battery can cause this issue, so replace the battery with a new alkaline battery. Wet electrodes can also be a factor; use a paper towel to remove moisture. Finally, cracked or broken electrodes can cause sparks at the crack, so replace them if necessary.
