How to stop flare ups on my Char-Broil Grill?
    • N
      nicholewilliamsAug 4, 2025
A flare-up on your Char-Broil Grill may occur due to grease buildup. To resolve this, clean the burners and the inside of the grill/firebox. Another cause might be excessive fat in the meat; trim the fat before grilling. Also, check if the cooking temperature is too high and adjust it accordingly.

What to do if flames blow out on Char-Broil SmartChef 463346017 Grill?
    • N
      Natalie WalkerAug 9, 2025
If the flames blow out on your Char-Broil Grill, it could be due to high or gusting winds; turn the front of the grill to face the wind or increase the flame height by turning the gas valve to a higher position. It could also be due to low LP gas, in which case you should refill the LP cylinder. Lastly, the excess flow valve may have tripped; refer to the 'Sudden drop in gas flow' instructions.

How to stop grease fire on Char-Broil Grill?
    • B
      Brandy GrayAug 14, 2025
If you experience a persistent grease fire on your Char-Broil Grill, it is likely due to grease trapped by food buildup around the burner system. Turn the knobs to OFF, turn the gas off at the LP cylinder, leave the lid in position, and let the fire burn out. After the grill cools, remove and clean all parts.

Why is the flame so low on my Char-Broil SmartChef 463346017?
    • A
      aweaverSep 12, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or low flame in your Char-Broil Grill could be due to several reasons. First, check if your LP cylinder is out of gas. If not, the excess flow valve may have tripped; turn off the knobs, wait 30 seconds, and light the grill. If the flames are still low, turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the regulator, reconnect it, perform a leak test, turn on the LP cylinder valve, wait 30 seconds, and then light the grill. Lastly, a vapor lock at the coupling nut/LP cylinder connection could be the issue; turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the coupling nut from the cylinder, reconnect it, and try again.

Why are sparks weak on my Char-Broil SmartChef 463346017 Grill?
    • R
      Robert OwensAug 25, 2025
If sparks are present but not at all electrodes or not at full strength on your Char-Broil Grill, first remove and reconnect all output connections at the module and electrodes. If possible, observe the grill in a dark location to check for arcing between output wires and the grill frame. A weak battery can also cause this issue, so replace it with a new alkaline battery. Ensure the electrodes are dry by using a paper towel to remove any moisture. Finally, check if the electrodes are cracked or broken, and replace them if necessary.

What is flashback on Char-Broil Grill?
    • N
      Nicole CooperAug 29, 2025
If you experience flashback (fire in burner tube(s)) on your Char-Broil Grill, it indicates that the burner and/or burner tubes are blocked. Turn the knobs to OFF and clean the burner and/or burner tubes. Refer to the burner cleaning section of Use and Care.
