1.
Turn
the
right
rear
corner
of
floor
mat
up
out
of
the
way,
turn
the
battery
inspection plate h
and
le coun-
terclockwise (fig. 55)
and
remove
inspection plate.
2.
Remove
filler caps
from
all
three
cells
and add
distilled
water
to
bring
the
solution
1/4"
above
the
I
plates
in
each
cell.

NOTE: Avoid getting baUery acid
on
clothing
or
other
fabrics.
3.
Reinstall
and
tighten filler caps, place
battery
inspection
plate
in
position
and
turn
the
handl
e
to
lock
it
securely.
Place
floor
mat
in
position.
In
freezing
weather
the
ve
hicle
must
be
driven
after
adding
water
to
properly
mix
it
with
the
electrolyte
and
prevent
freez-
ing.
It
is also
important
to
keep
th
e
battery
in
a fully
charged
condition
in
cold
weather
as
a discharged
battery
will freeze
at
a
little
below
the
freez-
ing
point
of
water
(32
de
-
gre
es
F.).
The
state
of
charge
in
the
battery
shou
ld be
checked
regu
l
arly
.
Your
Chevro
l
et
dealer
will gladly
perform
this service;
however,
if
it
is
inconvenient
to
take
the
truck
to
the
dealer
the
state
of
charge
in
the
battery
can
be
checked
by
using a b
at
-
tery
h
ydrometer
as
shown
in
Fig.
56.

will be from 1.275
to
1.300.

battery

Loose
or
corroded

rminals
cause
hard
starting
and
discharged
batteries.
When
corrosion
appears
on
the
terminals
they
should
be cleaned in a so

of
baking
soda
and
water
or
ammonia
