TIRES
Description.
Chevrolet
comm
ercial vehicles
are
equipped
with
synthetic
rubber
t
ires
and
tube
s.
It
is
important
that
these
tire
s
be
properly
inflated to
assure
normal
tire
life. See
"Tire
Infl
ation
Ta
ble
,"
page
20.
It
is
important
to
have
your
truck
equipped
with
tire
s h
av
-
ing
a
rated
capacity
to ha
ndl
e
the
anticipa
ted
l
oads
as
ove
r-
loading
tir
es
seriously
affect
tire
life.
Maintenance-
Mounting
Synthetic
Tubes.
1.
Before
installing
tube
in
tire,
clean
inside of casing
thoroughly.
2.
In
se
rt
tube
in
tire
and
inflate
until
it
is
nearly
rounded
out.
3.
I
nspect
rim
for
ru
st
scale
and
be
nt
flan
ges-
clean
ru
st
scale
and
s
tr
a
ighten
flanges.
4. Using a
bru
sh
or
cl
o
th
swab,
apply a
solution
of
neutral
vegeta
ble oil
soap
to
th
e inside
and
outside
of
tire
bead
s a
nd
also to
the
rim
side of tube. Do not allow
soap
so
luti
on
to
run
down
into tire.

When
mounting
tire
and
tube
on
drop
center
rim, follow
the
standar
d
procedure
.
Be
s
ur
e
tire
is
centered
on
rim
so
that
beads
are
out
o
f'rim
well
before
inflating. Do
not
allow
tir
e
to
hang
loosely
on
wheel
while
inflating.
6.
Center
va
lve
and
pull
it
firmly
against
the
rim.
Hold
in
this posi
ti
on
and
inflate
until
beads
are
firmly
seated
on
rim
again
st
fl
anges
. .
7.
Completely
deflate
tire
by
remo
v
ing
va
lve
core
.
8. Reinflate
tire
to rec
omme
nded
pressure.
(Caution:
Wh
en
tube
and
flap
are
not
properly
lubricated
and
mounted,
they
will
be
st
r
etched
thin
in
the
tire
bead
and
rim
r
el
ion.
This
will
cause
premature
failure
.)
