rim gutter using a screwdriver and
the tire iron (fig. 66). Then remove
the clamp ring by prying it out of
the gutter with the tire iron, moving
progress i vely around the rim (fi g.
67),
4. Drive the curved end of the
tire iron in between the side ring
and the entire bead (fig. 68). Then
pry down on the opposite end of
tire iron to move the tire bead away
fr om the side ring flange (fig. 69).
Continue th e foregoing operation
progressively arou nd the tire un til
the side rin g is removed. In some
cases it may be necessary to work
around the tire a couple of time s.
NOTE: The tire bead seat on the
s
ide rin&, is s li , hUy tapered; this
design
mak es renloval of the ring
much easier.
5. Push the valve stem up inside
the
tire to prevent d amage while re·
moving the tire. The tire may be re-
moved from the rim by - foll owing
the procedure d escribe d in Item 4.
Mounting Tire.
1. Remove aU rust sc ale from
the rim, side r i~g and clamp ring.

2. Insert tube in tire and .,-,r--- -- -==- ---,
inflate until tube is nearly
rounded out.

Lubricate tire beads,
rim side of tube and both
sides of flap with a solution
of
neutral 'vege table oil soap
or RuGlyde rubb er lu bri -
cant. Insert flap in tire.
4. Place tire on rim with
va l ve in line with the valve
hole in rim . In se rt valve
