THE 1.4-LITER MULTIAIR
®
ENGINE
The engineering partnership created by the FIAT
®
and Chrysler teams brings a
spectacular development for economical and efficient power. The brilliant MultiAir
engine design helps maximize fuel efficiency with intelligent technology that
communicates ideal fuel consumption usage to the driver. This fuel-conscious
engineering results in a fully integrated, naturally aspirated engine generating
101 horsepower @ 6,750 rpm and a very capable 98 lb-ft of torque @ 4,250 rpm.
The proprietary MultiAir technology helps deliver up to 10 percent more power,
with concomitant gains in fuel economy: it reduces fuel consumption by 10 percent
when compared to similar competitive engines — outstanding savings when
measured over time.
Advantages: produces greater power and offers less fuel consumption than
similar competitive engines.
1.4-LITER TURBO WITH MULTIAIR
Taking its cue from the respected 1.4L MultiAir engine, versions of this
turbocharged powerplant are the driving force behind the 2014 Dodge Dart
and FIAT
®
500 Abarth, 500L and 500t models. Utilizing exclusive MultiAir
principles — specialized technology that emphasizes improved fuel efficiency,
reduced emissions and achieving greater power through electrohydraulic
actuation of the intake valves — the 1.4L Turbo with MultiAir is ideally calibrated
for each application. Dual intercoolers for the FIAT 500 Abarth and 500t — and
a single intercooler on Dodge Dart and 500L — reflect the exacting engineering
for the performance required by each vehicle. The engine features low-tension
piston rings and piston oil squirters for cooling; each contributes to fuel-efficient
performance, while still delivering impressive horsepower and torque figures:
135–160 hp for FIAT models with 150 lb-ft of torque for FIAT 500t, and 184 lb-ft of
torque @ 2,500–4,000 rpm for Dodge Dart.
Advantages: turbocharged power, impressive and responsive performance —
with exceptionally efficient use of fuel.
