CLEAN-DIESEL TECHNOLOGY
Diesel engines have been around for more than 100 years, but today’s clean
diesels utilize breakthrough technology which significantly reduces emissions
and dramatically improves drivability. Modern, clean-diesel engines have many
important advantages over the diesel engines of the past, including:
Up to 80 percent reduction in particulates
Up to 70 percent reduction in oxides of nitrogen (NOx)
Up to 30 percent improvement in fuel economy

and 20 percent decrease in
carbon dioxide (CO
2
or greenhouse gas) emissions over similar-size gasoline engines

ALTERNATIVE FUELS: RAM 2500 CNG
For convincing proof behind our drive to develop ever more efficient engines and
alternative fuels, just look at the prices displayed at your local service station. Our
thinking to combat this trend is comprehensive: use every engineering innovation
possible to get the most out of every drop of fuel — and, especially, to develop more
cost- and fuel-efficient ways to use alternative fuels.
One of the best examples of such innovation is the dual-fuel Ram 2500 CNG model,
which utilizes both unleaded regular gasoline and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
As the first Ram pickup to utilize CNG, this is more than a trend-setting model —
it’s a harbinger of the technology to come. With power generated by the legendary
5.7-liter HEMI
®
V8 powerplant (modified for CNG with hardened valve seats and
revised engineering to seamlessly accommodate unleaded regular gas and CNG),
this Ram is all about exceptional fuel savings and uncompromising capability.
The numbers amply reinforce the fuel economy and capability of this new truck:
• CNG availability is greater than ever, and CNG costs are estimated to be and
remain at 20–30 percent less than regular gasoline
• Dual high-strength (50-ksi) CNG tanks hold 9 Gasoline Gallon Equivalent each for
a total equivalent of 18 gallons of fuel
• Single 8-gallon regular unleaded gas tank — Standard
• 32-gallon regular unleaded gas tank — Available
• Combined estimated driving range with dual CNG tanks
and 8-gallon gas tank: 367 miles
• Combined estimated driving range with dual CNG tanks
and available 32-gallon gas tank: 703 miles
• Automatic fuel operation — no driver
or passenger control needed
• Crew Cab comfort with 4x4 capability, in
Tradesman or SLT trim levels
• 8,800-lb GVWR
• 15,000-lb GCWR
• 5,200-lb FGAWR
This degree of economy with Ram capability reflects
the built-in quality of the Ram 2500 CNG. The entire
truck is covered by our 3-Year/36,000-Mile Bumper-to-
Bumper Warranty. All powertrain components are fully backed
by one of the best warranties out there, our 5-Year/100,000-Mile
Powertrain Limited Warranty.
