SAFETY & SECURITY
At Chrysler Group LLC, providing our customers with advanced vehicle technologies is part of the process — an emphasis that gives your fleet enormous advantages for the safety and
security of drivers and passengers. Our 2014 lineup incorporates improved handling, accident avoidance and advanced crash protection features. Through existing and emerging
technologies, we are constantly incorporating and improving the outstanding safety and security features in our vehicles. The following list of technologies are, with only a few exceptions,*
found on all vehicles in our 2014 Fleet portfolio.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL
(3)
(ESC)
Electronic Stability Control
(3)
is an accident avoidance and vehicle control feature designed to electronically detect and automatically assist the driver during critical driving situations and
under adverse conditions. ESC
(3)
technology works by constantly comparing the driver’s intended course with the vehicle’s actual course, detecting differences between the two, and
applying the brakes to individual wheels while controlling engine power to help keep the vehicle on its intended path.
The ESC
(3)
found on our Sport Utility Vehicles also utilizes another technology: Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM). ERM monitors both vehicle and driver input. When ERM determines
wheel lift is imminent, it applies the appropriate brake. It may also reduce engine power to lessen the chance that wheel lift will occur. ERM will only intervene during very severe or
evasive driving maneuvers.
ENHANCED ACCIDENT RESPONSE SYSTEM (EARS)
In order to help protect vehicle occupants after an accident occurs, EARS instantly engages after air bags
(2)
deploy. EARS makes it easier for emergency personnel to see and reach
occupants in the event of an accident by turning on the interior lighting, unlocking all doors and shutting off the flow of fuel to the engine. EARS is available on almost every
Chrysler Group LLC vehicle. Please refer to your individual nameplate’s Safety/Security section for details.
ENERGY-ABSORBING STEERING COLUMN
In the event of an accident, the energy-absorbing steering column is designed to cushion the initial blow to the driver’s chest during a crash. It is standard on every
Chrysler Group LLC vehicle.
HILL DESCENT CONTROL
Allows a smooth and controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal. When needed, this system applies the brakes to each wheel
individually to reduce forward motion while descending steep grades.
TRAILER SWAY CONTROL
Trailer Sway Control utilizes sophisticated software which reduces the effects of wind, air resistance from other vehicles, gravity and centrifugal force on curves, slowing the rate of
rotation of certain wheels to counteract the sway of the trailer.
