THE WORLD ENGINES
The World Engine lineup is the high-technology answer to our customers’ demand
for affordably priced, fuel-efficient and durable engines. In most cases, they
combine dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and intake manifold flow control valves
with dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, and high compression
ratios. The result of these technologies: more power, along with power levels at or
near class leadership, better fuel economy and smoother, quieter operation. Other
significant features include acoustic cylinder head covers on both displacements
(2.0L and 2.4L), plus dual counter-rotating balance shafts, an acoustic oil pan on
the 2.4L version, and a reduction in ancillary sources of noise and vibration. The
World Engine is available on Chrysler 200, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Journey,
Jeep
®
Compass and Jeep Patriot.
Advantages: outstanding performance balanced by excellent fuel economy and
phenomenally quiet operation.
2.0L TIGERSHARK
TM
This intelligent design combines superb engineering with brilliant materials
handling — like dual counter-rotating balance shafts and full-floating piston pins
with a diamond-like carbon-coated surface treatment; the results deliver impressive
fuel economy figures and notably low noise levels. Utilizing a high-pressure die-cast
aluminum block with cast iron bore liners and a forged steel crankshaft, the 2.0-liter
Tigershark incorporates an oil pan with a “steel sandwich” design; the acoustical
material between the inner and outer layers serves to reduce engine noise. The
2.0-liter Tigershark currently serves both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission
applications of the 2014 Dodge Dart.
