Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series
The leading high performance modular switches for unified communications
designed for unparalleled resiliency and simplified operations while enabling
virtualization for Enterprise access layer and price-performance campus
aggregation.
The Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series is a high-density modular switch delivering robust
intelligent services that enable high performance and security for both the mobile
and desktop user. The Catalyst 4500 Series optimizes application performance
through deep visibility with Flexible NetFlow and pervasive security with Cisco
TrustSec while the centralized forwarding architecture enables collaboration,
virtualization, and operational manageability. The simple centralized architecture,
media flexibility, and scalability of the Catalyst 4500 Series delivers maximum
investment protection with backward and forward compatibility across several
generations dating back to 1999, maximizing return on investment while minimizing
recurring operational expenses.
The Catalyst 4500 Series extends intelligence, resiliency and operational simplicity
to the network edge (wiring closet) with intelligent network services, including
sophisticated quality of service (QoS), predictable performance, advanced security,
up to 60 watts of UPOE (Universal PoE), 30 watts of PoE plus with IEEE 802.3at and
comprehensive management features. The Catalyst 4500 series delivers the highest
levels of integrated resiliency in both hardware and software minimizing costly
downtime for both planned and unplanned network outages helping maximizing
workforce productivity.
The Catalyst 4500 Series includes four chassis: the Catalyst 4510R+E (10 slots),
the Catalyst 4507R+E (7 slots), Catalyst 4506-E (6 slots), and Catalyst 4503-E (3 slots).
A broad selection of supervisor engines meet the needs of networks of all sizes while
delivering up to 848 Gbps of Layer 2–4 switching. The series supports an extensive
set of line cards, providing up to 384 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ports with integrated
Power over Ethernet Plus (PoEP). The Catalyst 4500 Series switches also support
1 GE and 10 GE fiber line cards for price-performance campus aggregation.
