1. General warning
Installation and wiring must be done by qualified electrician in compliance with local laws.
This manual is intended as an integration to applicable local regulations and good manufacturing practices
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Switch off power supply and wait approx 3
minutes to allow capacitors discharge before
opening the cabinet.
Shortcut capacitors terminals before handling
RISK OF FIRE
Capacitors contain flammable materials
(Plastic film, paper, oil)
PFC equipments must be located in safe
conditions considering fire risk in case of
misuse or failure
RISK OF HOT SURFACES
Internal components can reach high
temperatures during normal working (e.g.
reactors, capacitor discharge resistors, static
contactors,..)
Allow components to cool before
maintenance and always wear safety gloves
to avoid burning
RISK OF OVERTURN
PFC equipments are to be considered as
unbalanced loads.
Read carefully following chapter “handling”
2. Misuse
Misuse is defined as
any installation performed by not qualified technicians
any installation performed not in accordance to local and International legislation
any installation performed not considering the following manufacturer’s instructions;
COMAR Condensatori S.p.A. is not responsible for any failure or damage caused by Misuse or wrong operation.
The following clauses shall be observed:
1. Voltage: network voltage rate (Ue) must be the same written on equipment plate.
2. Harmonic content: harmonic distortion values must non exceed the following allowed values for the equipment (where
THDicap are the harmonics flowing in the PF compensation equipment):
3. Resonance between upstream transformer and the capacitor banks: verify the absence of the risk of resonance.
the resonance frequency must be far from the harmonics present in the power grid)
4. Equipment modification: no modification must be done on the equipment particularly on wiring, components type, 2
nd
level (advanced) setting of the PFC regulator
5. Environment conditions: The equipment is for in-door use only. Allowed conditions are (see also EN 61439-1 par. 7)
- Max temperature 40°C
- Max RH 50% @40°C
- Pollution degree: 2 (IEC / EN 61439-1, par. 7.1.3)
- No conductive dust/powders presence
6. Reconnection time of the capacitor bank: The discharging time of a capacitor bank is about 60 s. Never reconnect
manually the bank in a shorter time, to avoid any damage on the contactors.
3. Handling
The equipment may have an unbalanced arrangement of the internal loads ,towards top and/or sideward; take
extremely care during lifting and handling using safety belts to avoid overturn
See Fig. 1 for details
Using a forklift fasten the load to a fix part of the forklift by means of a safety strap
Using a crane hook the belts/chains at every lifting eyebolt
4. Installation
Equipment installation must be done solely by qualified personnel.
Wrong installation or setting and/or misuse (see chapter 1) can cause serious hazard
Read carefully before the installation this document and any other attached documents, like the electrical scheme and the
drawings of the equipment.
