Allow this minimum distance from walls or other objects that
could reduce natural or forced ventilation (see Fig. 3)
Back wall: not less than 20 cm (excluding wall
mounting equipment)
Side walls: not less than 20 cm
Top: not less than 50 cm from the roof
Note: Equipment with opening/removable panels
on the back should be placed at least at 70
cm from the wall to allow maintenance.
Warnings: No objects shall be placed in the nearby of
inlet and outlet of cooling air .
Floor mounting equipments must be fixed to the floor
through the appropriate fixing holes at the basement of
the enclosure.
4.2. Pre check before connection to the power grid
Before connecting the equipment execute the following checks to ensure that there is no damage due to transport/handling:
• Check tightening of the bolts / terminals of the power section. The tightening torque can be found in DIN43673.
• Check the presence and the connection of the discharge resistors on the capacitor units.
• Check that all components are fixed to DIN rails
4.3. Installation of the measuring current transformer (CT) and auxiliary connections - for automatic
equipment (APFC) only
1. Choose a current transformer (CT) with the following characteristics:
• Primary winding: the available size bigger than the maximum current of the loads
• Secondary winding: 5A (CT with secondary at 1A can be used only on HPR6, HPR12 regulators, BMR12 only on
request).
• Accuracy class: class 1 or better
NOTE: when the equipment has to compensate 2 or more parallel power transformers you need 2 or more CT having the same
characteristics, as well as a summation current transformer (CTsum) with secondary at 5A (or 1A see above).
The programming of the regulator shall take into account the sum of the currents of the transformers actually in parallel; in the
case of two twin transformer, one as a backup of the other, you should only consider one of the two transformer.
2. When the three phases are balanced, place the CT on the phase which corresponds to the 1s phase of the power grid (R orL1),
upstream of all the inductive loads and of the PF compensation equipment (see Fig. 2). When the three phases are not
balanced, install the CT on the phase with more current, connecting the other phases in sequence, respecting the sequence of
phases.
NOTE when the equipment has to compensate 2 or more parallel power transformers
• place 2 or more identical CT on the same phase as described above
3. Connect secondary winding of the CT (or CTsum) with 2,5 mm² wires, to the K - L screw terminal of the equipment
4. Over-temperature / fire signal: Connect the terminals indicated in the electrical diagram (NC / voltage free contact) to the fire
detection system.
4.4. Power grid connection
Cable section
Cable section shall be sized according to the rated current of the PFCE, increased by 50% (or rather considering a current 1.5
In), and the de-rating factors in compliance with technical regulations.
Switch Disconnector (only for fixed PFCE)
The switch disconnector shall be sized considering the rated current, increased by 50% (1.5 In) and shall be suitable for
capacitor bank switching (utilization category AC6b).
1. Open the power line isolator
2. Connect the cables of the 3 phases to the equipment. The incoming terminals are labelled with R(L1)-S(L2)-T(L3)
3. Tighten the bolts with the proper torque as indicated in DIN43673 regulation
4. Protect the terminals with the appropriate covers (if needed)
5. Connect the protecting earth cable to the specific earth screw or to the PE terminal
6. Close the equipment (locks or screws) and close the switch disconnector
4.5. Regulator set up
All regulators are in-house programmed by Comar according to the equipment configuration, setting a target cos(
ϕ
) of 0,97.
(See Fig. 5, Fig. 6, Fig. 8)
To have the equipment working, you need just to program the installed current transformer (CT) characteristic and, if necessary,
to modify the cos(ϕ) target value.
WE ADVICE AGAINST NON-EXPERT USERS TO CHANGE OTHER PARAMETERS (2ND LEVEL or ADVANCED
SETUP) WHICH MAY LEAD TO EQUIPMENT FAILURE AND CAUSE DAMAGES TO PROPERTY OR PERSONS
Prior to modify those parameters read carefully the relevant instruction manual of the installed regulator, available on the
web site www.comarcond.com, inside the section “Manual”.
SAFETY DEVICE ARE EXCLUDED IN MANUAL MODE
RETURN TO AUTOMATIC MODE IMMEDIATELY AFTER SET-UP OR MAINTENANCE
