Getting Started
Your remote is more than just a means of changing the channel. You can find and record a show, get details
about a show and control both your TV and set-top box. This remote boasts Aim Anywhere Technology, so it
will work from anywhere in the room, without having to point directly at your set-top box.

- Plug cord into the charging base.
- Place remote in the charging base and the BLUE LED light
will pulse.

Function Description:

The XFINITY TV Remote with Voice Control allows users to control their XFINITY TV on the X1 Platform using voice commands. This includes changing channels, searching for shows, and browsing viewing options. Beyond voice control, it functions as a standard remote, capable of finding and recording shows, displaying show details, and controlling both the TV and set-top box (STB). It features Aim Anywhere Technology, meaning it does not require direct line-of-sight to the STB to operate.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Connectivity: Requires a WiFi network for voice command functionality. It connects to the WiFi network during setup.
  • Pairing: Pairs with a specific X1 STB via RF for voice command processing.

  • TV/Audio System Control: While the remote can control TV volume, mute, and power using its physical buttons, voice commands are primarily for X1 STB functions (search, tuning, recording).
  • Multiple Remotes: Users can add multiple voice remotes, each paired with a specific STB in their home.

Maintenance Features:

  • Charging: The remote uses rechargeable batteries and comes with a charging base.
    • Charging Indication: When placed in the charging base, a BLUE LED light pulses during charging. A steady BLUE light indicates a full charge.
    • Depleted Battery: If the battery is fully depleted, the remote may not display normal charging status LEDs initially. It requires a minimum of four hours of charging, after which pressing the Power/Reset button on the back will reactivate it.
    • Battery Life: Approximately 5-7 days with normal usage; 2-3 days with frequent voice control usage.
    • Low Battery Warning: The remote provides reminders at 20% and 10% battery life, with LEDs blinking RED.
  • Troubleshooting WiFi Connection:
    • RF Pairing: Ensure the remote is charged, the correct RF code is entered, and the right equipment (XG1 and Xi3 STB) is used.
    • WiFi Connection: For WPS, hold Setup for three seconds, press D, then press the WPS button on the modem/router within one minute. If WPS fails, manually connect via a WiFi-connected device to the Voice Control Setup WiFi network. Ensure the WiFi signal is active and strong.
    • Lost WiFi Connection: Restart the WiFi router or add a WiFi Range Extender. If issues persist, erase WiFi settings by pressing Setup for three seconds and entering 9-8-8.
  • Troubleshooting Voice Controls:
    • Not Working: Ensure the remote is charged (check for low battery blinking pattern).
    • Not Understanding: Hold the remote closer, speak slower, or use different terms. Reduce background noise or turn down TV volume.
