ADJUSTMENTS
Shift Cable
If thefull rangeof speeds(forwardandreverse)cannotbe achieved,
referto the figuretotherightandadjustthe shift cableasfollows:
1. Placethe shiftleverin thefastest forwardspeedposition(F6).
2. Loosenthehex nuton the shiftcableindexbracket.SeeFigure
21.
3. Pivotthe bracketdownwardto takeupslack inthe cable.
4. Retightenthehex nut.
Drive Control
Whenthedrivecontrolis releasedandin thedisengaged"up"position,
thecableshouldhaveverylittle slack.It shouldNOTbetight.Also,
ifthereis excessiveslackin thedrivecableor if the unitexperiences
intermittentdrivewhileusing,the cable mayneedto beadjusted.
Checktheadjustmentofthedrivecontrolas follows:
1. Withthedrivecontrolreleased,pushthe snowthrowergently
forward.The unitshouldrollfreely.
2. Engagethe drivecontrolandgentlyattempttopushthe snow
throwerforward.Thewheelsshouldnotturn.Theunitshouldnot
rollfreely.
3. Withthedrivecontrolreleased,movethe shift leverbackand
forthbetweenthe R2positionandthe F6 positionseveraltimes.
Thereshouldbeno resistancein theshiftlever.
4. If anyoftheabovetestsfailed,the drivecableisin needof
adjustment.Proceedasfollows:
a. Shutoff theengineas instructedinthe Operationsection.
b. Loosenthelowerhexboltonthedrivecable bracket.See
Figure22.
c. Positionthebracketupwardtoprovidemoreslack(or
downwardto increasecabletension).
d. Retightenthelowerhex bolt.

Chute
If thechutefailsto remainstationaryduringoperation,the preiloadd
thechutecanbeadjustedbytighteningthehexnutfoundon the front
ofthechutecontrolhead.
1. Toincreasethepreload,tightenthe hex nutclockwisein1Aturn
intervals.SeeFigure23.
2. If thechutedirectionalcontrolisdifficulttocrank,decreasethe
preloadbylooseningthe hex nutcounterclockwisein 1Aturn
intervals.
