feelyouarelosingyourfooting,releasethebladecontrolhandle
immediatelyandthebladewill stop rotatingwithinthreeseconds.
• Mowonlyin daylightor goodartificiallight.Walk,neverrun.
• Stopthe bladewhencrossinggraveldrives,walksor roads.
• Ifthe equipmentshouldstartto vibrateabnormally,stopthe
engineandcheckimmediatelyforthe cause.Vibrationis gener-
allya warningof trouble.
• Shutthe engineoff andwaituntilthebladecomesto a complete
stopbeforeremovingthegrasscatcheror uncloggingthe chute.
Thecuttingbladecontinuesto rotatefor afewsecondsafterthe
bladecontrolisreleased.Neverplaceany partofthe bodyinthe
bladeareauntilyouaresurethe bladehasstoppedrotating.
• Neveroperatemowerwithoutpropertrailshield,dischargecover,
grasscatcher,bladecontrolhandleor othersafetyprotectivede-
vicesin placeandworking.Neveroperatemowerwithdamaged

SLOPE OPERATION
Slopesare amajorfactor relatedto slipandfall accidents,whichcan
resultinsevereinjury.Operationon slopesrequiresextracaution.If
youfeeluneasyona slope,do not mowit. Foryoursafety,usethe
SlopeGuideincludedas partof thismanualto measureslopesbefore
operatingthis machineon a slopedor hillyarea.Ifthe slopeisgreater
than15degrees,donot mowit.

Mowacrossthefaced slopes;neverupanddown.Exercise
extremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.
• Watchfor holes,ruts, rocks,hiddenobjects,or bumpswhichcan
causeyouto sliportrip.Tallgrasscan hideobstacles.
• Alwaysbesureof yourfooting.A slipandfall can causeserious
personalinjury.Ifyou feelyou arelosingyourbalance,release
thebladecontrolhandleimmediatelyandthe bladewillstop
rotatingwithinthree(3) seconds.

CHILDREN
Tragicaccidentscanoccurif theoperatorisnot alertto thepresence
ofchildren.Childrenareoftenattractedto themowerandthe mowing
activity.Theydonotunderstandthe dangers.Neverassumethat
childrenwill remainwhereyou lastsawthem.
Keepchildrenout ofthe mowingareaandunderwatchfulcareof
a responsibleadultotherthanthe operator.
• Bealertandturn moweroffif achildentersthe area.
• Beforeandwhilemovingbackwards,look behindanddownfor
smallchildren.
• Useextremecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,doorways,
shrubs,trees,orotherobjectsthatmayobscureyourvisionof a
childwhomayrunintothe mower.
• Keepchildrenawayfromhotor runningengines.Theycan suffer
burnsfroma hotmuffler.

SafeHandlingOf Gasoline:
• Toavoidpersonalinjuryor propertydamageuseextremecare
in handlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremelyflammableandthe
vaporsareexplosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycanoccurwhen
gasolineis spilledon yourselfor yourclothes,whichcanignite.
Washyourskinandchangeclothesimmediately.
• Useonly anapprovedgasolinecontainer.
• Neverfill containersinsidea vehicleoron atruck ortrailerbed
witha plasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainerson thegroundaway
fromyourvehiclebeforefilling.
• Removegas-poweredequipmentfromthetruckortrailerand
refuelit on theground.Ifthisis notpossible,thenrefuelsuch
equipmenton atrailerwitha portablecontainer,ratherthanfrom
a gasolinedispensernozzle.
• Keepthe nozzleincontactwiththe rimof the fueltankor
containeropeningatall timesuntilfuelingis complete.Donot use
a nozzlelock-opendevice.
