Overview

This document is a user manual for the Crane Personal Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier and Aroma Diffuser, model EE-5953AD. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe and effective use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the device.

Function Description:

The Crane Personal Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier and Aroma Diffuser is designed to add moisture to the air in indoor environments and can also be used to diffuse essential oils. It operates by producing a cool mist, which helps alleviate issues caused by dry air, such as dry skin, irritated sinuses, and static electricity. The aroma diffuser function allows users to add essential oils directly to the water tank, releasing their fragrance into the room along with the mist. The device is intended for household use only and is not suitable for outdoor operation. It features a compact design, making it suitable for personal use or smaller rooms.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: EE-5953AD
  • Rating Voltage: Input 120V AC 60Hz, Output 24V DC
  • Frequency: 50/60Hz
  • Water Tank Capacity: Approximately 0.35 Gallon / 1.25 Liter
  • Run Time Per Tank: Up to 17 hours
  • Humidifying Capacity: Up to 200 sq. ft.
  • Power Cord: Detachable, polarized plug (one blade wider than the other)
  • Controls: Power Icon (for humidifier on/off and mist level), Light Icon (for light options)

Usage Features:

The humidifier is designed for ease of use with several user-friendly features:

  • Simple Operation: To operate, the user fills the water tank with clean, cool tap water (filtered or distilled water is recommended to avoid white dust, especially with hard water). Essential oils can be added directly to the water tank. The tank is then placed securely on the humidifier base, and the unit is plugged into a 110-120VAC outlet.
  • Mist Output Control: The Power Icon allows users to cycle through different mist output levels:
    • 1st Press: Humidifier on Low
    • 2nd Press: Humidifier on High
    • 3rd Press: Humidifier will turn off
  • Light Options: The Light Icon controls the integrated light feature:
    • 1st Press: Humidifier light cycles through colors
    • 2nd Press: Humidifier light stays on the last color
    • 3rd Press: All light options off
    • The light options can function independently of the humidifier.
  • Automatic Shut-off: The unit automatically powers off when the water tank runs out of water, indicated by the Power Indicator Light flashing three times.
  • Placement Guidelines: The humidifier should be placed on an elevated, non-metallic, lint-free, waterproof, and level surface at least 2 feet above the floor. It is crucial to avoid placing it on carpets, towels, or wood surfaces that could be damaged by moisture, as the fan vent on the bottom must not be obstructed.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety instructions, including carrying a filled water tank with two hands, operating only indoors, using clean cool water, ensuring the water tank cap is firmly tightened, and always plugging/unplugging with dry hands. It also warns against operating with a damaged cord, covering openings, or leaving the unit unattended in a closed room.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and disinfection are crucial for maintaining the humidifier's performance and preventing bacterial growth. The manual outlines both daily and weekly maintenance routines, as well as end-of-season storage instructions:

  • Daily Maintenance:
    1. Turn off, unplug, and empty water from the tank and base.
    2. Wipe and dry the humidifier base with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel.
    3. Allow the tank and base to air dry.
    4. Leave the cap off the tank until the next use.
  • Weekly Maintenance:
    1. Turn off, unplug, and empty water from the tank and base.
    2. Clean Water Tank: Fill the tank halfway with warm water and add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Shake vigorously, let sit for 20-30 minutes, then empty and rinse with plain water.
    3. Clean Base: Fill the base with warm water, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and let sit for 30 minutes. Empty the base and wipe with a dry cloth.
    4. Clean Nebulizer: Clean the nebulizer with a damp cloth or cotton swab after soaking.
    5. Allow the tank and base to air dry and leave the cap off the tank until the next use.
    • Important Note: NEVER IMMERSE THE HUMIDIFIER BASE IN WATER.
  • End-of-Season Maintenance & Storage:
    1. Turn off, unplug, and empty water from the tank and base.
    2. Follow the weekly maintenance instructions.
    3. Ensure all parts are completely dry.
    4. Store the humidifier in a cool, dry place.
  • Cleaning Agents: The manual specifically advises against using detergents to clean parts that contain water, recommending white vinegar mixed with water instead, as detergent film can interfere with the unit's output.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues like the humidifier not operating, no mist output despite the power light being on, strange odors, low mist output, and a very tight tank cap, providing simple solutions for each.
