Overview

This document provides a comprehensive service manual for the Daewoo Color Television, Chassis CP-185, Model 14C5. It includes detailed specifications, circuit diagrams, alignment instructions, service parts lists, and a functional description of the various components.

Function Description

The Daewoo Color Television, Model 14C5, is built around the CP-185 chassis and features a multi-standard vision IF circuit with an alignment-free PLL demodulator. The vision IF amplifier is capable of demodulating signals with both positive and negative modulation, ensuring high immunity to EMC interference due to its internal VCO. The nominal frequency of the demodulator is set via a gain-controlled amplifier and AGC circuit, tuned to the required frequency (5.5 / 6.0 / 6.5 MHz) using a calibration circuit that references the microcontroller's clock frequency.

The device incorporates a sophisticated video processor that handles source switching between internal CVBS, external CVBS, or Y/C signals. The video ident circuit operates independently of synchronization. The synchronization circuit includes separators for horizontal and vertical sync pulses, and a data-slicing circuit for extracting digital teletext data from the analog signal. A horizontal drive signal is generated by an internal VCO running at 25 MHz, stabilized by a 12 MHz signal from the µ-Controller/Teletext decoder. The horizontal drive features a soft start/stop procedure to control the TON of the horizontal drive pulses.

Chroma and luminance processing involve gyrator-based band-pass and trap circuits, including a SECAM cloche filter, tuned by comparing the tuning frequency with the color decoder's reference frequency. A luminance delay line and delay cells for peaking are also realized with gyrators. A black stretcher function corrects the black level for incoming signals. The color decoder supports PAL, NTSC, and SECAM signals without external reference crystals, using an internal clock generator stabilized by the 12 MHz clock signal from the µ-Controller/Teletext decoder. An Automatic Colour Limiting (ACL) circuit prevents oversaturation by reducing the chroma signal without affecting burst signal, thus preserving color sensitivity.

The sound system is managed by the TDA9830 AM-Demodulator and audio source switch, designed for AM-sound demodulation in L and L' standards. It includes an audio source selector and a mute switch. The TDA7267A is a 3W mono audio amplifier in a powerDIP package, providing rail-to-rail voltage swing without bootstrap capacitors and utilizing the PCB's Cu ground plane for heat dissipation.

The vertical deflection circuit is a bridge configuration, with the deflection coil connected between output amplifiers driven in phase opposition. The differential input circuit is voltage-driven, suitable for symmetrical and asymmetrical current signals. The output current is converted to voltages at the input pins via resistors R350 and R351, providing internal feedback. The flyback voltage is optimized using an additional supply voltage (Vfb) in a class G operation, achieving high efficiency. Protection circuits are included for over-temperature and overvoltage.

The power supply is based on the STR-F6653 hybrid IC, which integrates a MOSFET and control IC for flyback converter type switch mode power supply applications. It includes a start-up circuit, an oscillator for pulse generation, and protection circuits for overcurrent (OCP), overvoltage (OVP), and thermal shutdown (TSD).
