This air conditioner meets strict safety and operating
standards. The installer of this unit must install or service
this unit so it operates safely and efficiently.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol,
within an equilateral triangle is intended to
alert the user to the presence of uninsulat-
ed dangerous voltage within the product’s
enclosure that may be of sufficient magni-
tude to constitute a risk of electric shock to
persons.
The exclamation point within an equilateral
triangle is intended to alert the user to the
presence of important operating and main-
tenance (servicing) instructions in the liter-
ature accompanying the appliance.
Contact Installer if Necessary:
The installation instructions are for a experienced
installer. If you are not an experienced installer, contact a
local installer for help. If you require help with service,
contact your certified dealer or Daewoo Electronics for
additional instructions.
If Unit is Installed Improperly:
The manufacturer shall in no way be responsible for
improper installation or maintenance service, including
failure to follow the instructions in this manual.
Precautions When Wiring:
Do not plug in the unit until all connections (tubing,
drain hose, mounting, etc.) have been made and dou-
ble-checked.
High voltages are present in this unit and are very dan-
gerous. Please refer to these instructions and diagrams
when wiring. Improper connections or inadequate
grounding can cause accidental injury.
This unit must be grounded in accordance with local
electrical codes.
Connect wires and pipes securely and tightly as loose
connections/wiring may cause overheating at connec-
tions and a possible fire hazard.
Precautions When Transporting:
• When transporting the unit, be very careful and get help
as the units are very heavy. Be careful of sharp edges
on the units also.
Precautions When Installing:
When installing in a ceiling or wall, make sure the
ceiling/wall is strong enough to hold the unit’s weight. A
frame may be necessary for added support.
When installing in a room, make sure the tubes are
well insulated to protect the walls and furniture from
sweating of the tubes.
When installing in moist or uneven locations, make
sure to use a raised level concrete pad or concrete
blocks to provide a level, solid foundation for the out-
door unit; this prevents water damage and vibration.
When installing in an area of high winds, make sure
to securely anchor the outdoor unit down with bolts and
a metal frame.
When Connecting Refrigerant Tubing:
• Keep all tubing as short as possible.
• Use the flare method for connecting tubing.
Apply refrigerant lubricant to the matching surfaces of
the flare and union tubes before connecting them, then
tighten , making sure not to overtighten.
Check the tubes carefully for leaks before starting the
test run.
When Servicing:
Make sure the power is off and the unit is unplugged
before opening the unit to troubleshoot or repair electri-
cal parts and wiring.
Keep your fingers and clothing away from any moving
parts.
Clean up the sight after you finish, making sure no
metal scraps and wiring are left in the unit.
• The Air conditioner shall be installed in accordance with
the nationed wiring regulation.

Overview

This document describes the Daewoo DSB-182L / DSB-182LH / DSB-182L-R / DSB-182LH-R split air conditioning system, covering its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Daewoo split air conditioning system is designed to provide cooling and, in the case of the LH/LH-R models, heating for indoor spaces. It operates by circulating air and adjusting its temperature and humidity to create a comfortable environment. The system comprises an indoor unit and an outdoor unit, connected by refrigerant tubing and electrical wiring.

The indoor unit features several filters for air purification:

  • Electrostatic Filter: Removes dust particles from the air.
  • Air Cleaning Filters: Removes dust and inhibits germs.
  • Deodorizing Filter: Removes bad smells from the air.
  • Anti-bacteria Filter: (Mentioned in specifications, likely part of the air cleaning filters)

The system offers multiple operating modes:

  • Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts fan speed, cooling, and dehumidification based on ambient conditions to maintain a desired temperature (24-28°C).
  • Fan Only Mode: Circulates air without cooling or heating, offering various fan speeds (low, medium, high, natural).
  • Cool Mode: Cools the room to a desired temperature (18-32°C), with adjustable fan speeds.
  • Dehumidifier Mode: Reduces high humidity in the room, with adjustable temperature (18-32°C).
  • Quick Mode: Operates at the highest power for rapid cooling.
  • Sleep Mode: Adjusts the room temperature gradually throughout the night for comfortable sleep.
  • Heat Mode (DSB-182LH/LH-R only): Heats the room to a desired temperature (18-32°C), with adjustable fan speeds.

The unit also includes timer functions:

  • On Timer Mode: Allows the user to set a predetermined time (0.5 to 24 hours) for the unit to automatically turn on.
  • Off Timer Mode: Allows the user to set a predetermined time (0.5 to 12 hours) for the unit to automatically turn off.

Fan direction can be adjusted both vertically (up/down) and horizontally (left/right) to optimize air distribution. The "TURBO/MILD" button provides powerful cooling, or returns to normal power if pressed again.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual provides specifications for four models: DSB-182L, DSB-182L-R, DSB-182LH, and DSB-182LH-R.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the unit's efficient and safe operation.

  • Air Filter Cleaning/Changing:
    1. Open the indoor unit's cover.
    2. Remove the two black air filters by bending them backward and lifting them out.
    3. Remove the two small filters (Deodorizing and Electrostatic).
    4. Clean filters using a vacuum to remove dust, and water with mild soap if necessary.
    5. Filters should be changed every 6 months, or once a year in climates with cold winters.
    6. Reinsert cleaned or new small filters, then the black filters.
  • General Cleaning:
    • Clean the casing and front of the indoor unit with a vacuum brush or a clean damp cloth.
    • Precautions: Never use solvents, harsh chemicals, or hot water. Be careful of sharp metal edges.
  • After the Season (Storage):
    1. Operate the fan to dry the indoor unit.
    2. Shut off and unplug the indoor unit.
    3. Clean the air filters.
    4. Cover the outdoor unit with the supplied cover to protect it.
  • Before the Season (Pre-use Check):
    1. Ensure air filters are clean.
    2. Verify that the inlet and outlet of both indoor and outdoor units are not blocked.
    3. Confirm the unit is grounded.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always unplug the AC cord and turn off the unit before cleaning or servicing.
    • Do not use water directly on the unit.
    • Do not use the unit for animal or plant storage.
    • Unplug the unit immediately during lightning or thunder storms.
    • Internal parts of the outdoor unit may require periodic cleaning or maintenance by a local service center.

The manual emphasizes adherence to all safety instructions, proper installation by experienced professionals, and compliance with local, state, and national electric codes. It also includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues like no power, compressor not turning on, strange sounds/smells, and remote control malfunction.
