Starting the Engine
Prestart Conditions
NOTE: The engine will not start unless the
transmission directional control lever is in
the NEUTRAL position.
1. Engage the parking brake, if not already
engaged. Place the transmission directional
control lever in the NEUTRAL position.
2. Lift trucks equipped with electrical disconnect
switches; the engine will not start unless the
disconnect switch is in the ON (closed) position.
2.4 Liter Gasoline Engine(G424)
NOTICE
Do not leave the key in ON position when engine is
not running.
Do not engage the starter more than 10 seconds at
any one time.
1. Depress the accelerator pedal completely and
then release it.
2. Then, depress the accelerator pedal more than
1/2 of its stroke and hold in this position.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the START position
to crank the engine.
4. Release it when the engine starts.
