Overview

The Daikin FWECSA is an electronic control unit designed for hydronic terminals, managing various aspects of their operation. It is compatible with Daikin system units featuring multi-speed, single-phase motors or those coupled to an inverter for speed modulation.

Function Description

The FWECSA controller provides comprehensive management for hydronic units, including:

  • Fan Speed Control: Offers automatic or manual fan speed variation, with options for 3-speed or 4-speed hydronic units, and modulating ventilation (0-100% variable speed).
  • Valve Management: Controls ON/OFF or modulating valves for both two-pipe and four-pipe systems.
  • Electric Heater Control: Supports the operation of an electric heater during heating mode.
  • Operating Mode Switching: Allows switching between Summer (cooling) and Winter (heating) modes through four methods: manually from the keyboard, remotely via digital input, automatically based on water temperature, or automatically based on air temperature.
  • Dehumidification Function: Manages the dehumidification process in Cooling mode, aiming to reduce room humidity to a setpoint level when a humidity probe is installed and configured.
  • Time Slots Operation: Enables scheduled operation of the unit based on hourly, daily, and weekly time slots, allowing users to define when the fan coil is OFF or operates with specific setpoints (T1, T2, T3).
  • Network Connectivity: Supports serial communication on two types of networks:
    • External Supervisor System Solution: Connects to an external supervision system using MODBUS RTU protocol over serial RS485, with the FWECSA acting as a SLAVE.
    • "Small" Network Solution: Allows connection of multiple FWECSA controllers in MASTER/SLAVE configurations via serial RS485 or Conveyed Waves (CW).
    • Mixed Network Solution: Combines both RS485 and CW connections for multi-level control.
  • Digital Inputs: Features external pre-consensus digital input (e.g., window contact, remote ON/OFF, presence sensor) to enable/disable unit operation, digital switching input for remote centralized Cooling/Heating, and digital input to enable ECONOMY function from remote control.
  • Digital Output: Includes a completely configurable dry contact digital output.
  • Probes: Utilizes a standard room air temperature probe (integrated into the user unit), with optional remote air, water (one or two for 4-pipe systems), and relative room air humidity probes.

Usage Features

The user unit features a graphic display and a six-key keyboard for interaction.

  • Main Screen: Displays room temperature, ambient humidity (if configured), status symbols (time slots on, economy function on, dehumidification running, minimum room temperature function enabled, valve/s open, electric heater enabled/on, network status, locked keyboard), operating mode (COOLING/HEATING), ventilation status, and room air temperature SET value. Alarm signals overwrite status symbols.
  • Key Functions:
    • ON/OFF Key: Switches the unit on/off, returns to the main screen.
    • PRG Key: Accesses the MENU.
    • MODE Key: Changes operating mode (HEATING/COOLING).
    • UP/DOWN Arrow Keys: Changes ventilation values/speed, scrolls through screens.
    • SET Key: Changes SET/VENTILATION mode, confirms values, returns to screen scroll mode.
  • Key Combinations: Specific combinations enable/disable time slots, display water temperature, display clock data, and lock/unlock the keyboard.
  • Temperature Set Adjustment: Allows users to change the desired room air temperature setpoint.
  • Ventilation Speed Adjustment: Users can select automatic, extra-low, low, medium, or high speeds for step ventilation, or adjust a percentage for modulating ventilation.
