3. Add refrigerant weights based on the model and refrigerant type from the above for the
required refrigerant weight from the 5.5 Line Set Charge Calculations together and
multiply by 80% (0.80) to get the initial starting charge.
4. Next, connect the refrigerant tank to the refrigerant manifold gauge set on circuit 1 and
make sure the manifold gauge set is properly purged.
5. Then from a vacuum, add the amount of refrigerant weight per the above calculations by
slowly opening the high side liquid line valve on the refrigerant manifold gauge to feed
liquid refrigerant through the high side.
6. At this point, there will be approximately 70 to 80% of the total charge in the system. It is
likely that more refrigerant will be required to complete the charging procedure during
compressor operations.
