All belts should be

at

examme the
belts
by
tUrnIng
a
portIOn
of the belt
over so
you
can see the
underside

Belts
that
are
frayed
cut
glazed
or
show uneven
wear
should be
replaced
It
IS also reasonable to assume that

one belt
requIres replacement
the others
may
as well
Replace
belts as
follows
1 Loosen the
pivot
bolt
on the
alter
nator
power
steenng
pump
or au
cond1l10ner
compressor

After
loosemng
the
bolt force the
umt
towards the
engme
to
get
slack

the rearward belt first and each belt

outermost
one

Tighten
pivot
bolts but
nottoo
light Usmg

ruler
depress
the
belt at
the nud
pomt
between
the
pulleys
and
measure the amount of deflecllon
