3.3 Electrical
1) Apply AC power to the control circuit connection box (see Figures 6 through 9).
2) Energize the immersion heater by closing the circuit breaker in the power supply line to the
heater. While the Vaporizer is warming-up, leak test all piping.
NOTE
All connections must be made in accordance with the
National Electrical Code, NFPA-70 and/or all applicable local codes.
WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard. AC powered electrical equipment presents a potential shock
hazard. Installation and servicing should only be performed by qualied personnel.
3.4 Checking for Leaks and Placing in Operation
NOTE
Inspection must conform to the requirements of State and Local Regulatory Agencies.
In some instances, visual inspection by trained personnel is considered sucient.
In other instances, pressure testing of all piping and assemblies using dry air or
nitrogen is necessary to meet these requirements.
1) Inspect all joints in the liquid chemical supply and gas discharge lines to make certain the
joints are tight.
2) A thorough leak test should be performed before any chemical is permitted to enter the
system. This test should be done using an inert gas such as dry air or Nitrogen. To test for leaks,
open all in-line valves between the liquid chemical supply valve and the Gas Dispenser(s),
including the valve in the by-pass line around the electrically operated pressure reducing and
shut-o valve to provide a path around the de-energized (normally closed) valve.
CAUTION
Do not open the header valve closest to the chemical supply.
WARNING
BREAKAGE OF A CHEMICAL PIPE, VALVE OR FITTING CAN CAUSE A MAJOR
HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL SPILL. NEVER tighten or adjust any leaking tting when
the chemical supply cylinder valve is open.
WARNING
System leaks and the procedures required to nd leaks may cause exposure to
hazardous chemicals at levels that exceed Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) limits. It is the employers responsibility to insure that proper
equipment and procedures are used to limit the employees exposure to
the safe levels listed by OSHA.
3) Be sure that the treatment system is ready to receive the gas solution.
4) Turn on the gas dispenser by allowing water to ow through the ejector and watch the feed
rate on the dispenser ow meter. A major piping leak will produce ow indication as air enters
the system through the leak. If the meter indicates a leak, listen to each joint until the leak is
found, and make the necessary repair. The ow meter will register major leaks only.
5) If no major leaks appear, pressure test the system for minor leaks. First, turn o the water
supply to the ejector, but leave the dispenser rate valve open. If a leak does appear, simply
starting the water supply to the ejector will draw the gas from the system quickly and safely.
