Determine airflow rates
The maximum amount of outdoor air that can enter a unit depends on the outdoor temperature
and the unit options.
••
With the space conditions near the nameplate values, the pressure-corrected
airflow rate in the supply duct must be within ±10% of the nameplate value AIR VOLUME.
The return duct must be sized for AIR VOLUME. There are other requirements
elsewhere in this manual. Proper airflow rates are essentia
l to reliable operation.
••
The outdoor-air intake (if any) flow rate is determined by the project engineer. Where connected
to the DRY-O-TRON
®, any outdoor airflow rate must not exceed the values shown in the chart
below.
NOTE: Units with the SmartSaver option may have different allowable flow rates. Request and
refer to Appendix M3 SmartSaver.
NOTE: Units with the Economizer option may have up to 100% of nameplate value AIR VOLUME.
This rate is only allowable during Economizer mode. During other times, the maximum rate
of outdoor-air intake should be determined from the graph below.
NOTE: Units with the Intelligent Energy Saver
® option may have up to 100% of nameplate value AIR VOLUME.
This rate is only allowable during Intelligent Energy Saver mode. During other times, the maximum rate of
outdoor-air intake should be determined from the graph below.
NOTE: Units with the Purge option may have up to 100% of nameplate value AIR VOLUME.
This rate is only allowable during Purge or EconoPurge modes. During other times, the maximum rate of
outdoor-air intake should be determined from the graph below.
IMPORTANT! Refer to submittal data for the maximum allowable external static pressure drops. Ducts
must
be designed and installed to have no more than the maximum allowable external static
pressure drop.
IMPORTANT! Ducts must
be designed and installed to minimize energy losses due to system effect.
