Do you have a question about the dedolight DLED 4 Series and is the answer not in the manual?
The Dedolight DLED 4 Series is a professional LED lighting system designed for stages and film sets in indoor and covered areas. It comprises light heads and power supplies, offering a versatile and high-performance lighting solution.
The DLED 4 Series light heads are professional LED luminaires that provide a focused beam of light. They are designed to be used with dedicated electronic control-gear power supplies (ballasts) which provide Safe Extra Low Voltage (SELV) and operate as a limited power supply (LPS) type with constant current/constant voltage output. The system is capable of dimming and, in bicolor versions, adjusting color temperature. The light heads feature a dual-lens aspheric optical system for even light distribution across the focusing range.
Light Head (DLED4-D / DLED4-T / DLED4-BI):
Electronic Transformer (DT4, DT4-BI, DT4-DMX, DT4-BI-DMX, DT4-BAT, DT4-BI-BAT):
Mounting: The light head can be attached to any stand or mounting fixture using a standard 5/8" (16mm) stud. The stand fitting accommodates both vertical and horizontal positions. The light heads can rotate 360° around the axis of the stand fitting, with adjustable friction.
Connecting Power Supply: The DLED4 (D, T, and BI) light heads are equipped with a 5-pin male XLR connector for connecting to AC or DC power supplies. SE-Series (Studio Edition) models have the power supply built-in. Before making electrical connections, the system should be switched off and the AC cable unplugged.
Dimming: The DLED4 fixture's intensity can be adjusted using the dimmer knob on the power supply. For devices with a display, dimming levels are shown as "d00" to "d99" (0-99%).
Focusing: The DLED4 LED light fixture offers a wide beam angle and intensity variation (60° to 4°, a 1:20 ratio). The dual-lens aspheric optical system ensures even light distribution across the entire focusing range. The beam angle is continuously adjustable by turning the yellow focus ring on the light head. Turning the ring to the wide angle/flood position shortens the light head, while turning it in the opposite direction (spot) lengthens it, exposing additional cooling devices.
Color Control (Bicolor Versions): For DLED4-BI (bicolor) power supplies, there are two rotary knobs: one for dimming and another for adjusting the color temperature from 2700K to 6500K. On devices with a display, color temperature is shown as "c27" (2700K) to "c67" (6700K).
DMX Control: DMX-enabled ballasts allow for remote control. To set the DMX address, both yellow buttons next to the display are pushed simultaneously. While flashing, the address can be changed using the UP or DOWN buttons. A dot in the display indicates a correct DMX signal. For manual control, the address can be set below channel 1. Mono-color DMX ballasts use 1 DMX address, while bicolor DMX ballasts use 2 DMX addresses (color & intensity). 8/16 Bit switchable ballasts are available, with standard DMX ballasts being 8 Bit only.
Manual Mode (no DMX functionality): To enter manual mode, push both yellow buttons simultaneously until the display flashes, then push the yellow DOWN button until the display shows "number 001". In manual mode, a "d" or "c" followed by a dot and two digits will indicate dimming or color temperature settings. Both knobs on the top black cap become active for adjustment.
8 Bit and 16 Bit Operation: To switch between 8 Bit and 16 Bit operation, press and hold the UP arrow button and simultaneously press the ON switch. The display will flash "d 8" or "d 16". Mode options can be changed by pressing the DOWN arrow button while flashing. The "ready" LED indicates the mode: green for 16 Bit, yellow for 8 Bit. Settings are stored after 5 seconds of inactivity.
Accessories: A variety of accessories can be attached to the accessory holder, which has three fixed holders and one latch for securing accessories. These include barn doors, scrims, light shield rings, color conversion filters, ND grad filters, and imager/projection attachments (DP1.2, DP2.2, DP1, DP2, DP3).
Safety Features: The system includes a temperature sensor that will automatically turn off the light head in case of overheating (indicated by a red "heat" LED on the ballast) and reset once the temperature returns to normal. The "heat" LED also lights up in case of damage to the output cable or missing lamp head.
General Maintenance: Regularly check operating procedures, ensure all safety equipment is functional and complete, and respect maintenance intervals. Keep the work area clean and free of debris.
Electrical and Electronic Repairs: Electrical and electronic repairs, including LED module replacement, must be performed exclusively by Dedo Weigert Film GmbH, an authorized representative, or a qualified and trained electrician. The LED module is not user-replaceable.
Cable Handling: Always ensure good handling of equipment, especially cables, as they are a common point of failure. Avoid pulling, pinching, or squeezing cables over sharp edges. Immediately unplug the power supply and initiate repair if cable insulation or electrical components are damaged.
Fuse Replacement: When changing fuses, ensure correct amperage indication.
Cooling: The light head utilizes passive cooling with cooling ribs. Avoid covering the heat sink and ensure adequate ventilation, maintaining a minimum distance of 0.5m from combustible materials. Do not operate the light head if cooling fins are damaged or missing.
Troubleshooting: In case of malfunction, contact your dealer or an authorized service center. Mismatch conditions (e.g., connecting a mono-color light head to a bicolor power supply) will not cause damage but may limit functionality.
