Modulartelematicsgateway(MTG)isoneofthemain
componentsthatenableJohnDeeretelematicssolutions,
includingJDLink™.MTGisacontrollerthatcontains
firmware,acellularmodem,andasubscriberidentification
module(SIM)device.MTGtransfersdatatoandfromthe
JDLink™hostserveroveracellularnetwork.MTGalso
containsawirelessmodemthatisusedtotransferdata
whenconnectedtoawirelessnetwork.
JDLink™requiresthepurchaseofappropriatehardware
andaJDLink™subscription.WhenMTGispoweredon
bymachineforthefirsttime,itregisterswithJDLink™
hostserverandreceivestheauthorizationtoreportdata.
MTGCommunication
MTGsendsandreceivesdataandmessagesovercellular
orwirelessnetworks.MTGsupportsothertelematics
solutions,includingServiceADVISOR™Remote,John
DeereRemoteDisplayAccess,JohnDeereWirelessData
Transfer,andJohnDeereMachineSyncshareddata.
Telematicssolutionapplications,suchasRemoteDisplay
Access,requireanuninterruptedcellularconnectionto
function.Othertelematicssolutionapplications,suchas
WirelessDataTransferandMachineSyncshareddata,
storeinformationonthedisplayandtransmitdatawhen
acellularconnectionisestablished.Telematicssolutions
suchasJDLink™donotrequireanuninterruptedcellular
connectionbecauseMTGcanstoremachinedataforup
to1000hours.WhenMTGreturnstoanareaofcellular
coverage,themostrecent1000hr.ofdataareforwarded
tothehostserveratitsnextscheduledtime.
Whenpoweringdownmachine,MTGremainspowered
forthetimeneededforfunctionstocomplete.MTG
entersasleepstateforupto7days.Duringsleepstate,
MTGcallsinduringitsscheduledtimes.WhenJDLink™
curfewsandgeofencealertsareset,MTGchecksforany
changesinitsenvironment.Aftersleepstate,MTGenters
ahibernationstateandisnotabletosendorreceivedata.
TheonlywaytowakeMTGfromhibernationstateisto
turnkeyswitchonandpowerupmachine.

MTGsupportsmachinetomachinecommunication.
UtilizingaMachineSyncactivation,displayscanshare
data,suchascoveragemapsandguidancelines,
betweenmultiplemachines.

serviceothermachinecontrollersusingtheMTG.Operator

MTGisactive,itisavailablefor10minutes.Onlyone
mobiledevicecanconnecttoamachineatatimeover
Bluetooth®connection.
