  If your Defiant Intercom System doorbell is playing constantly, it might be due to a diode being installed on more than one push button. Remove each push button and check for a diode. If you find diodes on multiple buttons, remove all of them except for the one on the front door push button. Alternatively, a video doorbell connected to your system might be malfunctioning. In this case, you should contact the video doorbell manufacturer for troubleshooting and installation instructions.

  If your Defiant Intercom System doorbell base sounds, but doesn't play the entire tune or the “TUNE” button doesn't work, the push button diode may not be installed correctly or is not working properly. Verify the diode is securely attached to the main push button. The doorbell base may not function properly if a diode is installed on more than one push button. Note: Some push buttons have a pre-installed diode. An additional diode should not be installed if the push button has a pre-installed diode. If the musical tune still does not sound completely, replace the diode (Type 1N4001-50V-1A, available at a local electrical component supplier). How to troubleshoot a Defiant 18000019 when the doorbell base does not sound?

  If your Defiant Intercom System doorbell base doesn't sound, the transformer might not be working properly. To check, test the transformer voltage output with a volt meter set to read A/C voltage. It should read between 18 - 22 volts A/C on the low voltage side when the doorbell is not playing. If it's below 18 volts, replace the transformer. Another possible cause is a faulty push button. Remove the push button from the door frame, disconnect the wires, and touch the bare wires together. If the doorbell base then sounds, the push button is defective and should be replaced. Finally, the doorbell base itself might be the issue. Disconnect the wire from the terminal marked "TRANS". While someone presses the push button, briefly touch the "TRANS" wire to the terminal marked "FRONT". A small s...
