DEKKER Vacuum Technologies, Inc. – Vmax/July 2016
Troubleshooting
The following is a basic troubleshooting guide. We recommended that you consult your local dealer for
service. Each Vmax system is tested and checked at the factory. Always indicate system model and serial
number when calling. The system model and serial number is viewable on the DEKKER Controller LCD by
pressing the MAINT pushbutton as outlined beginning on page 18.
WARNING: Before attempting any repairs, disconnect all power from the system by
switching off the main breaker or disconnect switch. This will prevent the system from
automatically starting from a vacuum setpoints.
TROUBLESHOOTING Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
VMAX OIL-SEALED LIQUID RING VACUUM PUMP SYSTEMS with DEKKER CONTROLLER
Start-Stop Problems:
System will not start in HAND or AUTO position: (Vmax)
1. DEKKER Controller not powered ON.
a. The POWER button must be pressed to ON.
b. When powered ON, the red LED above the POWER button will be lighted.
c. The LCD display should be showing the main screen with the message “Stopped”, or
“Standby”.
d. The display can be switched to the main screen by pressing the ESC button.
e. The HAND/AUTO LIGHT will be either Red for Hand, or green for Auto mode.
f. The OFF light and the RUN status light will be red when the system is STOPPED.
2. No main AC power. Confirm that the main AC power disconnect is ON and supplying power to the
control panel. This can be measured with an AC voltmeter at the power supply terminals in the
control panel. Refer to the electrical control panel diagram supplied with the system. If main AC
power is not present at the power supply, verify incoming AC voltage on the motor contactor.
3. No 24VDC power. The DEKKER Controller operates on 24VDC. Using a DC voltmeter confirm the
presence of this voltage at the power input terminals on the controller circuit board connector. Facing the
back of the DEKKER Controller, this is the upper connector on the right side of the board. The lowermost
terminal on this connector is +24VDC while the next terminal above is GND/-24VDC. If 24VDC is not
present at the controller terminals, next check at the + and – 24VDC terminals on the power supply. If
24VDC is present at the power supply but not at the controller, check the associated fuse within the control
panel.
4. Check if the disconnects or circuit breaker is switched on.
5. Check the overload setting on the starter and fuses.
6. Check the small auxiliary contactor on the face of the main contactor. A loose connection or debris can cause
faulty operation. Remove, clean, and reattach. Tighten wires.
7. Check alarm reset, light should be off.
8. Ensure that the proper voltage is supplied and that the wire size is correct.
9. Check electrical control panel (if installed). Make sure that all wires are tight. Wires may vibrate loose during
shipment or operation.
10. Check low oil level switch (if installed). Add oil to reservoir if needed.
11. Check if the pump has seized by rotating the coupling by hand (disconnect power first). If a rubbing
noise or binding is observed, contact authorized dealer.
12. Check the high temperature setting on DEKKER Controller Program Menu, which should be set for
225
o
F.
13. Check if pump operates against high back pressure (> 4 psig), if so replace oil separator element.
14. If a remote start switch is installed; remove the switch, re-install the jumper on terminal 27, and disable
the System Option.
