Install the hard disk drives
The hard disk drives are shipped separately from the enclosure, install them in the enclosure after the enclosure is secure in the
rack.
CAUTION:
The PowerVault MD2460 enclosures do not support SSDs, NVMe, SATA, or vSAS drives. See the
Dell
PowerVault MD24 Series Support Matrix
for the complete list of supported drives.
If you insert a SATA drive into the enclosure and then replace it with a SAS drive, the enclosure will not recognize the SAS drive.

Insert the drives into the drive carriers
The PowerVault MD2460 enclosures use chassis-specific drive carriers. The other drive carriers are not compatible with this
enclosure.
Steps
1. Insert the drive into the drive carrier with the connector end of the drive at the back.
2. Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, install four screws to secure the drive to the drive carrier.
