WARNING: Always check that the blade does not touch the table at
the rear of the slot or at the front of the rotating arm at 90° vertical
and 45° bevel positions. Do not switch on before having checkedîthis!
Adjusting the Fence (Fig.îI)
Turn the sliding fence lock knobî
î9
anti-clockwise to loosen. Move the
sliding fenceî
î16
to a position that avoids the blade cuts it,then tighten the
fence lock knob by turningîclockwise.
Checking and Adjusting the Blade to the Fence
(Fig.îB, J, K)
1. Slacken the mitre latchî
î13
.
2. Place your thumb on the mitre armî
î12
and squeeze the mitre latchî
î13
to release the rotating table/mitre armî
î14
.
3. Swing the mitre arm until the latch locates it at the 0° mitreîposition.
4. Pull down the head and lock it in this position using the lock down
buttonî
î22î
.
5. Check that the two 0° markingsî
î40
on the mitre scaleî
î15
are
justîvisible.
6. Place a squareî
î41
against the left side of the fenceî
î16
and bladeî
î8
.
î
WARNING: Do not touch the tips of the blade teeth with theîsquare.
7. If adjustment is required, proceed asîfollows:
a. Loosen the screwsî
î42
and move the scale/mitre arm assembly left
or right until the blade is at 90° to the fence as measured with the
square (Fig.îJ).
b. Retighten the screwsî
î42
.
Checking and Adjusting the Blade to the Table
(Fig.îLâN)
1. Loosen the bevel clamp handleî
î19î
(Fig.îL).
2. Press the saw head to the right to ensure it is fully vertical and tighten
the bevel clampîhandle.
3. Place a set squareî
î41
on the table and up against the bladeî
î8
(Fig.îM).
î
WARNING: Do not touch the tips of the blade teeth with theîsquare.
4. If adjustment is required, proceed asîfollows:
a. Loosen the bevel clamp handleî
î19î
and turn the vertical position
adjustment stop screwî
î43
in or out until the blade is at 90° to the
table as measured with theîsquare.
b. If the bevel pointerî
î44
does not indicate zero on the bevel scaleî
î20î
,
loosen the screwsî
î45
that secure the scale and move the scale
asînecessary.
Checking and Adjusting the Bevel Angle (Fig.îA,îL,îN)
The bevel override allows the max. bevel angle to be set at 45° or 48°
asîrequired.
⢠Left = 45°
⢠Right = 48°
1. Make sure the override knobî
î46
is located in the leftîposition.
2. Loosen the bevel clamp handleî
î19î
and move the saw head to theîleft.
3. This is the 45° bevelîposition.
4. If adjustment is required, turn the stopscrewî
î47
in or out as necessary
until the pointerî
î44
indicates 45°.
î
WARNING: The guide grooves can become clogged with sawdust. Use
a stick or some low pressure air to clear the guideîgrooves.
Prior to Operation
î
WARNING:
⢠Install the appropriate saw blade. Do not use excessively worn
blades. The maximum rotation speed of the tool must not exceed
that of thesawîblade.
⢠Do not attempt to cut excessively smallîpieces.
⢠Allow the blade to cut freely. Do notîforce.
⢠Allow the motor to reach full speed beforeîcutting.
⢠Make sure all locking knobs and clamp handles areîtight.
⢠Secure theîworkpiece.
⢠Although this saw will cut wood and many nonferrous
materials, these operating instructions refer to the cutting of wood
only. The sameguide-lines apply to the other materials. Do not cut
ferrous (iron and steel) materials or masonry with this saw! Do not
use any abrasiveîdiscs!
⢠Make sure to use the kerf plate. Do not operate the machine if the
kerf slot is wider than 10îmm.
⢠Placing the workpiece on a piece of wood will increase the
capacities to 300îmm.
OPERATION
Instructions for Use
î
WARNING: Always observe the safety instructions and
applicableîregulations.
î
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, turn
tool off and disconnect battery pack before making any
adjustments or removing/installing attachments or accessories.
An accidental start-up can causeîinjury.
The attention of UK users is drawn to the âwoodworking machines regulations
1974â and any subsequentîamendments.
Ensure the machine is placed to satisfy your ergonomic conditions in terms
of table height and stability. The machine site shall be chosen so that the
operator has a good overview and enough free surrounding space around
the machine that allows handling of the workpiece without anyîrestrictions.
To reduce effects of increased vibration, make sure the environment is not
too cold, the machine and accessory are well maintained and the workpiece
size is suitable for thisîmachine.
Switching On and Off (Fig.îA)
The lock off switchî
î29î
located on the the on/off trigger switchî
î1
must be
flipped in order for the saw to turnîon.
1. To run the tool, flip the lock off switchî
î29î
and press the on/off trigger
switchî
î1
.
2. To stop the tool, release theîtrigger switch. The lock off switch will
re-engageîautomatically.
Use of XPS⢠LED Worklight System (Fig.îA,îR)
NOTE: The mitre saw must be connected to a powerîsource.
The XPS⢠LED Worklight System is activated by engaging the trigger or
pressing the XPS buttonî
î34î
on top of the saw housing.
To cut through an existing pencil line on a piece ofîwood:
1. With the XPS light on, pull down on the operating handleî
î3
to bring
the saw bladeî
î8
close to the wood. The shadow of the blade will
appear on theîwood.
2. Align the pencil line with the edge of the bladeâs shadow. You may
have to adjust the mitre or bevel angles in order to match the pencil
lineîexactly.
Your saw is equipped with a battery fault feature. The XPS⢠worklight
begins to flash when the battery is near the end of its useful charge, or
when the battery is too hot. Charge the battery prior to continuing cutting
applications. Refer to Charging A Battery for battery chargingîinstructions.
